I'm a stay-at-home Mom living near Seattle, WA with my husband, our toddler daughter, and two cats.
I seek beauty and knowledge.
I have a number of chronic health problems - many pain related - and depression. I sleep through at least 3 entire days per month due to pain medications. I'm looking for ways to keep myself occupied and entertained and sane.
I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up. Now I just blog. When I have time and remember and the inclination is there.
My passions are empathy & compassion, social justice, combating -isms, GLBT acceptance.
I am bi. I am a flaming liberal. I am an atheist ("recovering Catholic" variety) who seeks community and meaning in life.
I am fascinated by how the mind works, why we think what we think. I'm intrigued by neuroscience, sociology, child psychology, philosophy, and quantum physics. I think they might all be related. Most of quantum physics goes right over my head, but the little I've puzzled out has mind blowing implications.

I would prefer not to receive anything overly religious. Gothic black crosses good. Jesus ON the cross: ewww. Images of Buddha, Kali, Gaia are ok, esp. if they are ornate/intricate/colorful. Images of Jesus or Mary not so much, unless they are truly beautiful images (see: ornate/intricate/colorful). Some of my favorite art is religious, but OLD - Renaissance and Gothic. Russian(esque) religious icons are awesome. There is some really beautiful Mexican-style art of the Virgin Mary. Cherubs can be cute, but no "traditional" Angels (or animals or kids with halos).
Please skip the prayers, blessings, Bible quotes, etc.
I don't like blood, death, skeletons. Yes, the goth girl doesn't like death. Day of the Dead sugar skulls can be so beautiful and/or fun, but usually even the great ones give me the creeps.

Vintage imagery, esp. holidays. Halloween and Christmas are tied for favorite holiday. Although, Valentines are lovely and there's plenty of fun vintage Easter cards too!
Pretty ladies, esp. non-traditional/sassy: pin-ups, Halloween pin-ups, goth faeries, temptress, gothic Lolita, dominatrix, naughty secretary, anything Bettie Page
Black cats.
My Melody is my favorite Sanrio character, and stuff with her is hard to find.
Favorite colors: red, black, the red oranges of Autumn leaves as well as the pinky-oranges of sunrise
