Hello there! My name is Desi, I'm 27, from Bulgaria, but have lived in Germany for about 8 years now. I studied archaeological sciences and cultural heritage preservation and now work as an excavation assistant for an archaeological firm.
I'm a vegetarian and nature lover. I am a big animal person ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฆ๐and enjoy interacting with them (animals are awesome! with some exceptions maybe). Looking forward to being a crazy cat lady one day ๐ I also really like plants. Different ones - ones you can eat and also decorative plants. Useful plants are the best though. The past couple of years I've been growing some herbs and chilies on my balcony. It's been great and I can't wait to have a garden in the future.
Recently I've been a lot more conscious of what I buy and where and have been trying to live a little more sustainably. I've also decided to stop buying crafting supplies (for now at least) and just try and use up what I already have. And if I need something I'll check if I can get it second hand first, before heading to the store. This also goes for a lot of other things like household items, electronics and clothing. For a very long time I've also been trying, whenever I can, to reuse things as much possible, especially different papers. I don't like letting anything go to waste.
I am a fan of traveling and am curious about exploring new places and cultures. So far I've only had the chance to travel within Europe (which I am nontheless grateful for) and hope to visit other continents and further away places soon ๐
I like different types of crafts, mostly paper-related. In the recent past I've enjoyed making junk journals, albums and bookmarks and sold some of my creations on Etsy (shop temporarily closed). Might pick that up again soon. I also like making jewelry (mostly bracelets), greeting cards, art and sometimes play with pencils, paint, watercolours and others. I love trying out new crafts and exploring different ways of being creative.
Something I picked up just a few years ago and have been enjoying very much is penpaling, making different kinds of flipbooks and sending (and receiving) pretty decorated packages/envelopes in general. Opening my mailbox and seeing a bunch of pretty colours is just so satisfying. A couple of years ago I started filming some of my projects and have uploaded some videos to YouTube. They're not the highest quality, but I'm quite proud of some of them. You can find the link next to my profile picture โ if you're interested ๐
Currently I'm rather fascinated by sewing and have several projects going on. One of the more ambitious ones is a quilt. It's my first time doing something like this and I feel like it won't be the last.
Colourful things make me happy. I like pretty much all colours, but I think my absolute favourites are greens, blues and maroon. Lately I've generally been gravitating more towards earthy tones, not so much super bright and vibrant colours, but that doesn't mean that I don't use or appreciate them at all.
In my art classes in school one of the things I really enjoyed (other than making art) was colour theory. Now I get excited when I see combinations where the colours go super well together.
This is a list of ideas for the kind of things I like and use, not necessarily a wish list. If there's something you think I might like but isn't on here it doesn't mean that I wouldn't want it, maybe I just haven't thought of it ๐
