In terms of music, I listen to a wide variety of genres and artists, so really anything wide a good rhythm and baseline I'll enjoy! I typically listen to alternative, rock, indie, folk, and electronic. Okay, for electronic music, I typically listen to like Nick Murphy, Anna Meredith, Eliott Moss, etc. But, I know that that genre has a huge umbrella, so I do get a little picky with electronic. I will say, I am not a fan of most country music or rap, but please feel free to convince me otherwise, I love getting music suggestions. My top five artists would have to be Chet Baker, David Bowie, Bon Iver, Eliott Smith, and Debussy (I like classical too). Honorable mentions would be P.J. Morton, The Lumineers, and Junip.
I love to read, though admittedly I don't do it as frequently as I would like. Some books that I've really enjoyed are You by Caroline Kepnes, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, and Animal Farm by George Orwell. It's funny that I want to be a writer and I don't read as often as I should, but I would love to read more. So, to those of you who read this, please send some suggestions my way!
Where to begin! I grew up in Oregon, where it rains almost nine months a year, so my family and I used to watch movies religiously. I love a good thriller, but introspective movies are great as well. Some of my favorites would have to be the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Parasite, the Count of Monty Cristo, Infinity War (I'm not a die-hard Marvel Universe cult member, but I've seen quite a few of their movies) and the Harry Potter movies.
I watch a lot of TV. Like, too much. But if I get invested in a good story, then there's not much else I can do except seeing it through to the end. Anything on Netflix or Amazon Prime I have probably seen or have planned on seeing, and I love suggestions, so bring them on!
I really enjoy journaling because I think it's a great way to improve your headspace and allow yourself to express your feelings without worrying about unforeseen consequences (as we often tend to do). I've seen some YouTube videos of people on this site sending each other the most incredible packages and letters, so I am really excited to participate and I think I'll learn a lot from everyone on this site as well.
I'm a cat person, a coffee addict, and an aspiring writer. I love storytelling, and I enjoy seeing all different kinds of mediums for doing so. I've been involved in local theatre for about four years, and I've had the most incredible opportunities to learn and explore from that, so I would love to talk about live performance. I typically prefer directing to acting, but I've been singing since I was a child so I do both technical theatre and performance. I think expression is the backbone of civilization, and in that regard, I often find that crafting is equally as important as an iconic masterpiece like the Mona Lisa. If it makes you feel free or loved, or if it just sparks joy, it's important. I like to write poetry and short stories, but I've also written a play and a couple of short scenes as well. Although, I'm no Shakespeare, so for the time being, my official profession is being a part-time cashier at a sushi restaurant. I love to learn about other cultures and I wish I could travel more often, but I feel like this is a great way to see the world without leaving home. I watch a lot of street food videos online, and I enjoy cooking and baking the recipes I find! I am an extremely amateur herbalist, but herbal medicine and healing really interest me. I've dabbled in fermentation as well, but I killed my first sourdough starter and I'm still mourning it at the moment. I would love to get some suggestions and recipes for any of these, as well as share a few of mine with others as well.
This is just a list of things I like to receive and learn about!
Arts and crafts such as watercolor paintings, sketches, drawings, knitting, sewing, crocheting, etc.
Personal letters about you, your interests, and your life :)
Poems, short stories, comics, opinionated articles, and commentary on things that affect everyone, good or bad.
Tea!!
Herbal recipes and remedies for natural healing, such as various teas, tinctures, liniments, and things I maybe haven't heard of that I can try as well! I also enjoy less "official" home remedy recipes, like homemade bath salts, balms, aromatherapy candles, and so on.
Cooking and baking recipes! I have relatively strict dietary restrictions, so if you happen to have any healthy paleo-friendly, gluten-free, whole 30 or keto-friendly recipes, send them my way! But I love to cook and bake for others as well, so if your favorite thing to cook is like a deep-dish cookie pizza with extra cheese and sugar on top, I'll take that too, hahaha! I love baking french pastries, but I would love to learn more about middle eastern pastries and baking, or Indonesian baking as well. But, as I said, send it even if it's not what I mentioned!
Most importantly, I like receiving things that are personal that make you happy- be it sloppy, unaesthetic, or easy to do- if you enjoy doing it, I would be more than happy to admire your work.
I am a novice swapbotter, and I am bound to make mistakes, as I am human, but I ask that you would just consider the time and work I put into what I send before rating me down. Also, if something gets lost in the mail, or if it takes longer than expected to arrive, please reach out to me before rating me down as well.
