Please Note: I almost always send out my swaps before the send by date. So, if you haven't gotten something from me, please let me know, so I can fix it. I won't FLAKE on you. Hey all, I have been out of action for a while, but I am back and ready for some swapping! I have missed being around and it is good to be back!
Hi. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and have for my entire life. I am an attorney for the Utah Attorney General's office. I spend a lot of my time with my family and friends. I am very close to my mom. I am single; but make up for it with my cats and friends. My two cats are very special. The male is part tabby and part siamese and his name is Jinks. His sister (well not really, but we adopted them as kittens the same day) is all tabby, and her name is Hello (as in Hello Kitty). Plus, I am busy at my job and take a lot of pride in the work that I do.
My family has lots of traditions and we look forward to them each year. For example: Every year we take a trip to the zoo at Easter. We go to the State Fair; we make gingerbread houses. We also have traditions for almost every holiday. From fireworks on the 4th to Christmas Bingo; it is great to see how the traditions change just a bit as the family grows and adds new members.
I graduated from the University of Utah for both undergraduate and law degrees. So, I am a big U of U fan. I have season football and basketball tickets. Well, now, my Utes are off to compete in the PAC-12. Time to mix-it-up with the big boys. Rose Bowl, here we come. GO UTES!
I like to scrapbook and make cards. I also enjoy knitting and other needle crafts like cross-stitch and needle point, plastic canvas and ribbon embroidery. For a while, I made a ton of stuffies for swaps. I got a Rainbow Loom, and have been making all sorts of thing with that. It seems like I go through phases and can't get enough of something, then I get restless and pick something I haven't done for a while and then that is all I can do. Right now, I am back into full scrapbook mode. I guess I have craft ADHD. Once in a while I just get in the craft mode and do things like make wreaths and make holiday decorations out of wood or whatever stuff I can find. I like to enter my things into competition at the Utah State Fair. I have managed a few blue ribbons.
I would say that my style is bright and cheerful. My scrapbook pages are rather lumpy because I love to embellish. I like to put beads, ribbon and buttons on cross-stitch patterns for the same reason. I guess that about sums up my personality, bright and cheery with lots of sparkly embellishments!
I love animals and have two cats (one male and one female--see them above, on a U of U blanket). I still love Hello Kitty and if you come to my office at work, you will see all sorts of Hello Kitty things. You would also see otters. Sea otters in particular.
I love to decorate for the holidays both at home and at the office. I dcorate for just about every holiday (Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas), but sometimes I decorate for a season.
I like "sparkly stuff" too. Just a big kid at heart! I almost always wear bracelets, rings, pins and earrings.
My favorite colors are pink and yellow. (except for U of U game days, then I am all about the Red and White) But I like anything bright and cheery.
I collect music boxes and charms. I also collect tote bags, kokeshi dolls, and decorative boxes. Now I am strating to collect interesting in shape, size or design decks of playing cards. I have many stuffed animals, both at home and in my office. They range from beanies of all sorts, to build-a-bear creatures. Some are bears, otters, other sea animals, elephants, etc.
I like to do sudoku and word find puzzles. Sometimes I try logic, crosswords, and fill-in's but sudoku and word finds are my favorite.
I like to fly kites. I enjoy birdwatching and have feeders up most of the year.
I am strange -- I have been told -- because I hate cholocate. Most people are shocked, but I just don't like it. Never have. But I am a good baker of chocolate things. And, I don't eat the stuff as I make it.
I love to read, and I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I couldn't wait to finish the last one. I also loved and cruised right through the Twililght series, and I just finished all of the books in the Sookie Stackhouse series (aka Southern Vampire mystery novels). But Harry and Edward aren't my only favorites. You have to love King Arthur, Merlin and the Knights of the Round table. There are lots of great books out there about those guys. I also enjoy a good mystery or a good spy thriller. It is a good way to escape. But I also read basic literature. You can never go wrong with a book by Jane Austen, Maya Angelou or Charlotte Bronte.
Tops for me:
Animals: cats, otters, well just about any animal is fine with me (except monkeys).
Anything Red and White for the University of Utah; particularly stuff that can be worn or used at tailgate parties and the games (bags, hats, scraves, mittens, etc) (Go UTES!)
Vacations: Cruises; Las Vegas, San Diego. I also love London.
I am quite an anglofile and love all things British and Scottish. From Glastonbury Abbey to Beefeaters, and tea.
Colors: pink, yellow and brights
food: Mexican
snacks: chips and salsa
drinks: Diet Coke with lime; ice tea
smells: fresh soap; citrus (lemon-lime), floral and vanilla
flowers: any and all
Hello Kitty anything
Otter (river or sea) anything
Mary Engelbreit stuff and designs.
Hoops and YoYo (the Hallmark Card guys)
Bags and totes.
Sparkly stuff--charms, pins, bracelets, embelished bookmarks, and bags
Knitting, cross-stitch, scrapbook, embroidery, and other (matchbox, stuffies) craft supplies. I always need scrapbook safe adhesives (glue dots, pop-dots, etc).
Stuffies, amigurumi, and other plush.
Anything with the initial "P", especially charms and pendants.
Cute socks (size 9-11 US)
Glass animal figurines
tiny tea sets
Music boxes (even the little electronic ones)
fun shaped or sized decks of cards
kokeshi dolls
coloring books (especially design ones) And who can resist a new box of Crayolas?
I also like suduko, word finds, hard mazes and dot-to-dots, and fill-in puzzles.
I like to watch CSI (the original), NCIS, The Blacklist, 24, Rizolli and Isles, Bones, and Perception. I guess I am a legal and thriller junkie. My guilty pleasure show is Survivor, but that is the only "reality" show that I ever watch. Why shows like that are called "reality" I will never understand, how far from reality can you get?
Dislikes:
chocolate, coffee and coffee flavor, strong mint flavor, clowns, monkeys, spiders, and mimes. And people who FLAKE on their swaps.
