Hey, I'm decorating your profile for the EF ~ Butterfly Deco Swap :)
I chose our favorite butterflies from the species we can see in our country (Italy). Now you can see them too.
It is a migratory butterfly which alights on most flowering plants. However, its favorite plant remains the thistle. We can see it from May until October.
This butterfly prefers all nectar-rich flowers. It is one of the most beautiful species to be found in Italy and flies here from April until September.
It can be found both in the gardens and over the flowering meadows. It flies from May until September and its main feature is that it produces three generations per year.
According to scientists this rare species (subspecies of the most common butterfly Apollo) has refuged on Sicilian Apennines during the last glaciation, differing from other species and giving birth to this rare endemism.
This butterfly flies from March until May on damaged lands and among broom and heather.
A poem I wrote awhile ago that is as true now as it was then.
The Number Two
Of all of the numbers, two rules my life
It's always there in everything I do
It's very true so I'll repeat it twice
Of all the numbers, my life's ruled by two
I have had two good, supportive partners
And two great children who drive me insane
Two small grandsons and two teen granddaughters
My apologies if I sound inane
But I swear by all that's holy it's true
My life is circumscribed by that number
Everywhere I look is the number two
It even follows me while I slumber
Goddess please help me, I very much rue
The day I was found by the number two
Hi, Vanessa! I know that I'm not your partner. I just thought you might enjoy seeing this anyway.

I hope you like the butterflies that I have chosen for you!
I loved the unusual coloring of this butterfly; so small and so beautiful.
Diaethria anna, the Anna's eighty-eight, is a butterfly in wet tropical forests in Middle America. On rare occasions, it can be found as a stray in south Texas. Its upper side is dark brown with a metallic bluish-green band on the forewings. The underside of the forewings are red, which is followed by a wide, black band and then white tips; the underside of the hind wings is white, with lines that approximate a black-outlined "88", giving the species its common name.
The caterpillars feed on tropical plants in the families Ulmaceae and Sapindaceae. Adults feed on rotting fruit and dung.
I love the blue morpho butterfly due to it's pretty blue color.
The morpho butterflies are over 29 accepted species and 147 accepted subspecies of butterflies in the genus Morpho. They are Neotropical butterflies found mostly in South America, Mexico, and Central America. Morphos range in wingspan from the 7.5-cm (3-in) M. rhodopteron to the imposing 20-cm (8-in) sunset morpho, M. hecuba. The name morpho, meaning changed or modified, is also an epithet of Aphrodite and Venus.
Blue morpho may refer to several species of Morpho butterfly, including: Morpho helenor (common blue morpho) Morpho menelaus (Menelaus blue morpho) Morpho peleides (Peleides blue morpho) Morpho rhetenor (Rhetenor blue morpho)
The Blue Morpho is also the name of a character on the animated adventure-comedy series The Venture Bros. He is a parody of the Green Hornet voiced by Paul F. Tompkins.
The owl butterfly is one of the larger ones. It is so unusual due to those big eyes.
The owl butterflies, the genus Caligo, are known for their huge eyespots, which resemble owls' eyes. They are found in the rainforests and secondary forests of Mexico, Central, and South America.
Owl butterflies are very large, 65–200 mm (2.6–7.9 in), and fly only a few meters at a time, so avian predators have little difficulty in following them to their settling place. However, the butterflies preferentially fly in dusk, when few avian predators are around. The Latin name may possibly refer to their active periods; caligo means darkness.
Some owl butterflies form leks in mating behavior.
I hope you enjoyed the butterfly pictures and info. that I sent to you!
Thank you so much for the adorable happy mail booklet! It was just what I needed today! I'll be sending you a letter in a day or two once I get my head screwed on straight- running around like a chicken here with all the family drama! Have a blessed Good Friday and Happy Easter!
