I have been involved with many swap groups through Yahoo and the ATC's For All Forum. I have swapped ATC's, flat selves, flat pets, chunky book pages, skinny book pages, gothic arch pages, tags, charms, dominos, matchboxes, healing dolls, cork dolls, button fairies, fairy pockets, cabinet cards, altered cd's, altered books, altered boxes, altered altoid tins, altered board books, and altered composition books. I have participated in book and doll round robins. I have a blog, though I am not huge on words, but was trying to get in the habit of sharing the results of some of the projects/swaps I participate in. Most recently (2015) I have joined PocketPals.com run by the woman who invented pocket letters - these are a lot of fun.
I have discovered the Joanne Fluke murder mysteries, she uses humor well and her heroine has a cookie shop so there are always free recipes in every book. I enjoy Denise Swanson who has a series of murder mysteries, she is a local, so that connection is what started me on her first book. I have read all 12 to date. I enjoy the Twilight Saga and the Harry Potter books. I enjoy Nora Roberts and thoroughly enjoyed her Bridal quartet. I love when she writes in a series, she can really touch my heart and make me laugh. So I finally tried Nora Roberts writing under the name JD Robb - wow, she has such a talent, I've read 36 of the books in that series so far - totally hooked.
The Harry Potter movies of course. I really enjoyed Despicable Me, we really laughed through that one. The classical musicals are great, like the Sound of Music. Action/ adventure/ sci-fi: Matrix, Rambo, Fantastic 4, Underworld, Blade, Pirates of the Caribbean, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Men in Black, X-Men, etc.
Sci-fi - Fringe, Doctor Who, Bones, Next Food Star, Design Star, Warehouse 13, Once Upon a Time, Sleepy Hollow, cooking and interior design shows. Finally tried Grey's Anatomy - got hooked, thank goodness for Netflix - no commercials, no waiting. Along that line also Vampire Diaries, the Originals, Supernatural, Flash, Revenge, NCIS, Gilmore Girls, Private Practice, Reign, and Agents of Shield.
I like trying all sorts of crafts and learning new ones. I teach quite a few of them through the year at school with my students in grades K-8. Ceramics, quilling, painting, drawing, jewelry making - beading and wirework, origami, papier mache, paper crafts, printmaking, rubber stamping, scrapbooking, altered art, mixed media, collage, fibers, crochet, ATC's, cartooning, and a bit of quilting. I have taken several on line doll classes and really enjoy learning something new. Have enjoyed getting into pocket letters because its like getting a whole page of ATC's at once. I think I tend to make 9 ATC's when I make mine but am trying some different techniques to be more pocket-y.
I like the vintage look overall. I really like the look of Graphic 45 and have been enjoying creating with those amazing papers and stamp sets. Did the Wizard of Oz book from Archiver's and a Curiosity Shop book that is like a gatefold style book shaped like a house - what a lot of fun, that class lasted 7 hours. Retro images, vintage images of women and children, vintage ads, posters, and labels.
Favorite season is fall, love the colors and and the smell of the air - its so cool and clean and crisp: leaves, pumpkins, and acorns. Have been in a Halloween-y mood, love vintage Halloween images, nothing gorey, bloody or creepy. Enjoy vintage Christmas images, Santas, trees, lights, decorations, garlands; I have a Santa collection. Winter - love snowmen, have a collection, like vintage images, snow and ice sculptures.
Like: washi tape(oh yeah, big time), scrapbooking quality stickers, scrapbook paper, rubber stamps, bright colors, banners, paper flowers, bling, stencils. Like lighthouses-have a collection. Vintage images, fairies, mermaids, flowers, Marie Antoinette, paper dolls, birds, tropica, beach, vintage bathing beauties, hot air balloons, steampunk, keys, watches, Prima dolls, Gorjuss girls, Verity Rose, Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, shabby chic, French bulldogs, chihuahuas, cats, chibis, tea cups, tea party, ATC's, barns, covered bridges, bible verses, encouraging quotes, castles, vintage circus photos and posters, quilting, day of the dead, fall, flamingos, folk art, whimsical art, mushrooms, gnomes, owls, peacocks, and sea shells.
Dislike: food items, candy, tea, candles, lotion, perfume(don't handle smells well-migraines), don't want any fibers or ribbons, don't need any wooden bits, cancelled postage stamps, beads, or buttons.
I had a partner in Australia in 2012 and even though I mailed out before the deadline, she decided that it took way too long and gave me a 3. It stinks that I got penalized for the mail service of another country.
