About Me

I love to crochet and craft with buttons and ribbons. I prefer to crochet with cotton or bamboo, especially with crochet thread. I love to cook and have a large collection of recipes. I love to can foods, make cheeses, make soaps, and shop. I have a miniature doll house that I am working on decorating in the Edwardian style (1900- 1920s. I share my home with my husband, adult daughter and two energetic little dogs. My daughter is an artist who loves to create especially sewing and knitting. I also have a son and daughter-in-law who may share in my swapping fun.

I would love to recieve.

Items I would love to receive include: Crochet thread (see favorite colors) (especially extra fine threads #30 and smaller)
crochet tools
crochet patterns
yarn
knitting items (tools, patterns, looms etc)
sewing buttons (especially large or interesting ones)
magnets (for making fridgies)
barrettes, clips or pins (for making things with my crocheted items, buttons and ribbon recipes/cookbooks

Ocean themed items with lighthouses or seashells, etc like recipe cards, notepads, stationary, new cards, envelopes, rubber stamps. etc
spices (new and sealed please)
essential oils (not man made fragrances)
other notepads, stationary, new cards, envelopes. etc

Tea ( I like spicy teas, prefer caffeine free) sugar free drink mix packets (factory sealed please)
sugar free treats (see allergy note)
PLEASE: Make sure all edible items are factory sealed and have labels!
soaps, lotion, other sample or travel sized items
dog treats or squeaky toys,
any item with frogs, Pugs or Sheltie's on them
handcrafted items (Sorry, no homemade foods, for safety and allergy reasons)
vintage 1950's and earlier (especially kitchen) items ( doilies, hotpads, aprons, utensils, etc.)
postage stamps (new unused) lip balm/chapstick (unused of course, lol)
calendars
window scrapers gloves s/m, hats/scarves /slippers size 8

Miniature dollhouse decor 1900-1920's era especially hand made miniature quilts, doilies, rugs, pictures, books, etc.

Books: craft, crochet, romance, mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, just about anything that is readable and not crude is fine. But my favorite is probably fantasy stories that include mythical creatures like dragons, unicorns, etc with magical powers. I also like Christian themed stories. I also like humor, music, and cookbooks.

Movies(humor, romance, action, animation, historical) music cds (originals not copies, new or used in good condition is fine)

For music I love country, blue grass, old rock and roll, old hymns and gospel (not the modern rock or christian rock). Please do not send porn, horror, violent or x-rated materials, they will just be trashed!

Likes/Dislikes/Allergies/Healt

Likes/Dislikes/Allergies/Health My favorite colors are: browns, olive or sage greens, golds, cream, white, rusty oranges, amber, and dark reds.

I do not care for purples, pinks, greys, blacks or blues

I love natural scents but am mildly allergic to most man made fragrances.

My family is diabetic or prediabetic and needs to stay away from too much sugar.

I am allergic to aspertame ( Nutrasweet) but my family can have those that come with aspertame in them.

For health reason, I avoid the following ingredients: aspertame, MSG, sugar, caffeine, nitrates and man made fragrances, but I can re-home any items that arrive with these ingredients as long as they are factory sealed and have original labels.

About Me

For me, Swap-Bot is about trading handmade items, craft supplies and other goodies that I won't use for handmade items and supplies I love and/or will use. This way I can hopefully find a good home for stuff that is just taking up space and of little or no use to me but too nice to just toss out. And if I find nice craft supplies and goodies at a discount somewhere I don't have to pass up the great bargain even if I know I won't get around to using it, because I can trade it for something I will use. I call that a win/win!

Flakes and Angels

I was flaked on by emcdownald for the Send Me An Envie (Jan 2013) She didn't send or reply to my messages. I was angeled by host Artsymimi for the Send Me An Envie (Jan 2013) Thank you, Artsymimi! And Bless you!

Comment: Thanks for participating in this swap. It sounded simple but actually turned out to be rather hard for all that joined it. As far as your tatting goes your doing great. I still don't shuttle tat. I keep saying I am going to learn it but haven't yet. I have the same book and dvd you do. I've been told it is possible to learn to tat from it. As far as I know its the only book and dvd course out there to get. I learned to needle tat from the Hand Hands How to Needle Tat book. They also have a Needle Tatting DVD. I got it later and found it had lots more than just the book has in it. I highly recommend learning to needle tat first. There are things like split rings that are actually easier to needle tat than shuttle tat. Its a slower process but it its a lot easier to learn Needle tatting. I think some of your trouble was the thread as well. Size 10 slides a lot easier and looks better tatted as well. I was able to talk to shuttle tatters when I was learning to needle tat however none had the time to teach me the shuttle. One in particular did spend time talking to me about thread and general tatting stuff. She advised using the #10 to learn on as it slides better and you can still see the stitches and parts of the stitch. The Lizbeth thread from HandyHands.com is the best tatting thread available at this time. They also carry all the standard threads but the Lizbeth is the best and well worth the money. It doesn't tangle as easily as some others and is very strong. I can pick out mistakes without destroying the thread most of the time. Please don't give up. If you would like to do a one to one swap with me just ask and I will set it up. Happy Tatting, Tess
Response: Thank you for the rating and more importantly the advice. I was wondering about needle tatting and cro-tatting with straight crochet hooks. I thought it would be best to learn what seemed to be the standard form of tatting which I thought was with the shuttle, first but maybe it is not the standard anymore.
