Hi! I'm Lindsey 😄 I'm 26 and I live with my husband and two cats (and lots of fishes) in Texas. I have a dark, sarcastic sense of humor but am also silly and fun, definitely a kid at heart. I love creating, playing board games, cooking, and hiking, though I spend most of my time in my craft studio. Currently I'm working out with my husband and we're eating healthy (mostly paleo). It's something that we try to do often but have a hard time keeping up with. It's been really awesome to feel good about myself and to keep at it! We're doing a little weight loss competition with my family so that's a good motivation too.
I have some mental health issues which make life difficult for me, but it also makes me more empathetic and creative so I can't imagine being "normal". I'm very into self improvement as I believe that anyone can change or make themselves better. So I really enjoy/recommend things like therapy, art therapy, yoga, meditation, eating well, things like that.
BOOKS I read mostly fantasy. My favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson, JRR Tolkien, and Ray Bradbury. I also love non fiction - especially about animals or biology type things.
MOVIES I watch a lot of movies but they don't really explain anything about me, lol. I enjoy a wide variety. Lord of the Rings, 10 things I hate about you, Joe Versus the Volcano, Fried Green Tomatoes
I LOVE Studio Ghibli. My favorites are howl's moving castle and the secret world of arietty.
MUSIC I mostly listen to indie music now but I listen to some less common kinds of music like show tunes, talk music, film scores . Some of my favorite bands are: The Decemberists, tallest man on earth, bright eyes, tegan and Sara, Emiliana Torrini, Fiona apple, Listener, la dispute, Amanda palmer/Dresden dolls.
I love arts and crafts in all forms and am a total jack of all trades. Except sewing! I never got the hang of fabric crafts. I make a lot of my supplies and really enjoy the way I can customize my art for myself.
Supplies I enjoy: Paint (particularly enjoying Dylusions paint right now), Stencils, Stickers, Distress inks, Pastes of any kind, Sprays (I usually make my own), GLITTER...Okay anything that sparkles really
My current art/craft type is alcohol ink on tiles, mixed media, abstract painting, and monoprinting on my gel press.
Styles/Themes I like: Studio Ghibli!, "Pretty" stuff (florals, pastels), Cats, Nature, outdoors, Flowers, Animals (seriously, I love all animals - insects, birds, ocean animals, forest animals, pets), Christmas!!! (I had a Christmas themed wedding), Christmas village, Artsy, handmade, Books, bright fun colors, Fantasy (but not the fairies on flowers kind of thing), unicorns, dragons, Jellyfish, Nerdy stuff, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Musicals, Shiny/glittery anything.
Things I like receiving:
ATCs. I would really like to add more to my collection. If it's a send anything flat mail swap I would like ATCs especially :)
Stickers
Washi Samples
Recipes
Letters/long notes
Postcards
Notecards
Planner things (I have a medium sized Happy Planner and an A5 ringbound Recollections planner)
Stationery
When the envelope is decorated
I probably will like whatever you send because it's fun getting something new in the mail, but those are things I will definitely use in case you wanted direction.
I don't like the "Shabby chic" or country look.
Political stuff
I'm not a huge fan of vintage. It's okay, I just don't prefer it.
Drugs, alcohol, sex-themed stuff. It's not a judgement against people who are, I just don't want that stuff for myself. (Curse words, dark humor, sarcasm etc is totally OK though)
When people misspell my name! People sometimes spell LindsAy but it's LindsEy. I know this is petty but it annoys me.
I love seeing hand crafted items that reflect someone's creativity, so if a swap says "no handmade" you can still send me handmade ones. As long as you put time and effort into it and it looks nicely done, I'd love to receive it.
I generally give people hearts who take the time to read my profile and base their swap on it, in general put love/thought into it, or if I genuinely love what you did/sent. I don't base hearts on "extras".
I mark as sent when I put the swap in the mailbox. It gets picked up around 11 AM so if I do this later in the day, or on a Sunday then it won't be postmarked until the next day. I do this because if I don't mark it as sent right away, I will forget!!
I read every single swap partner's profile and love to try and find things that match their interests.
If I forget to rate you please let me know. I try to rate everybody right away or by the next day but sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. Same for postage due. Let me know!! I have a postal scale so it shouldn't be an issue but if it comes up send me a message :)
I would love to do private swaps!! Please message me if you are interested!
