Swap Coordinator:Bucket (contact)
Swap categories: Challenges  Letters & Writing
Number of people in swap:16
Location:International
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Last day to signup/drop:June 1, 2010
Date items must be sent by:June 15, 2010
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

For this swap, you will write a piece of micro-fiction (aim for 250-300 words) and send it to one partner in any postal mail form of your choosing (postcard, letter, note card, typed, ...).

What will your micro-fiction piece be about? That's where the MYSTERY comes in!

I have three lists of nine words. The first list is objects (like cookie or candle). The second list is people (like uncle or bride). The third list is locations (like desert or post office). If you sign up for this swap, you must post in the swap comments a three digit number (using digits 1-9, no zeros). So, for example, if you pick 783 then the 7 corresponds to the 7th item on the object list, the 8 corresponds to the 8th item on the people list, and the 3 corresponds to the 3rd item on the location list.

On the day I assign partners for this swap, I will email or PM you the three mystery words your micro-fiction piece needs to be about! Closer to the send by date, I will also email or PM you the three mystery words your partner's piece needs to be about to make sure no one switches out a word. :)

To make it a mystery for me too, I will use a random number generator to see which words I get!

FOR A FIVE RATING: Send one 250-300 (ish) word fiction piece based on your assigned three mystery words to one partner.

THE DETAILS: All swappers are welcome. 4.95 rating please, PM me if you have a compelling reason to be below that level. If you have been rated on fewer than 10 swaps, you must have a filled out profile.

If english is not my first language, could I be rated low for mistakes in my story ? I love to write, but usually do so in french... I would do my best for sure but one never knows. ;)

Neen 05/18/2010 #

1 - 7 - 6

Glad you are hosting this one again, and look, I remembered to put the numbers here this time!! Lol.

Bucket 05/18/2010 #

lulubiz - I don't think you would be rated low for a grammar mistake or something like that. Believe me, native english speakers make grammar mistakes all the time! As long as write a creative story about the three mystery words you are given, it should be no problem!

Neen, glad to see you here with numbers!

lulubiz 05/18/2010 #

Thanks bucket ! 3-4-1 for me !

doortotheriver 05/18/2010 #

Funfun! I'll go with... 448! xx

user2637 05/18/2010 #

I think I will do the same numbers for all of these swaps. :) 213 for me please.

CraftyTweetie 05/18/2010 #

Is it ok if our micro fiction goes over 300 words? Sometimes when I start writing it's hard to stop. :)

Bucket 05/19/2010 #

@CraftyTweetie - it's okay if it's a couple words over, but try to keep it right around there. The whole point of micro-fiction is to really make use of every word and tell a story in a small space.

emilybee123 05/19/2010 #

Oh, this sounds really fun! I'll go with 9-2-5. What suspense...

starrycat 05/20/2010 #

I'm going to be out of the country for this round....I would love to know when the next round goes up, however!

Bucket 05/20/2010 #

Ooo, starrycat, have a fun trip!

K i'M IN AGAIN tRY NEW ROUND OF Numbers 268

user2637 05/20/2010 #

My last partner @lheureuxart presented the story awesomely. It was a half sheet of paper (8.5" x 5.5") folded in half (to 4.25" x 5.5"), with a title/username/swapname on the cover, the story on the two pages inside, and a copyright (I think?) on the back. Like a tiny book!! SO awesome. I'm going to copy and do my that way this time.

Bucket 05/20/2010 #

Cool idea for the presentation!

StuntMum 05/23/2010 #

I didn't realise how much the last one would test my writing skills ;) 3-3-3

Liv2cre8 05/25/2010 #

I will go with 6-1-3 for mine.

rottifan4 05/29/2010 #

BuniGrrl 05/31/2010 #

Caranam 05/31/2010 #

How are we counting?.. Would it be each word with 5 letters or more?

Bucket 06/ 1/2010 #

Snowqueen - count every word - even "a" or "to", etc... If you type your story, just go with the way Microsoft word counts - that's fine. If you're a couple words over or under, it's not a big deal.
