I only know of Turkey's location in the world. A random fact about Fort Worth, Texas, USA is we have the World's only 2 times a day cattle drive down the streets of our famous Stockyards. It is a sight to behold!

Sadly, I know very little (actually nothing) about Turkey but I would love to learn more. This next year our school curriculum is about countries & cultures! Looking forward to exploring more about places I know little about! As for a fun fact about where we're at is that we're called the "Evergreen State" because... it's ALWAYS green! I moved from the desert of Arizona so the fact that there's green here, in Washington year round has me in awe!

My great grandfather immigrated from Turkey to Canada!!! It was shortly after the 2nd World War, and until he passed he always spoke fondly of your country šŸ’œ šŸ‡¹šŸ‡·

I am from Saskatchewan, Canada. We are home to many oddities, like the largest plaster Santa in Canada, and we also have the largest bee in the world. Wr are responsible for a significant amount of Canadaā€™s crops as well! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

Thanks for the opportunity!!!

Xxx, m

I know absolutely nothing about Turkey, but am planning on learning about the culture and language. I am from Hawai'i, a small city on the Westside of the island of O'ahu. A fun fact is we have a farm up the valley called Ma'o farms, which has the goal of putting students in the community through college with a local 2-year college, Leeward Community College, and may even have them continue with a 4-year college within the state.

Turkeys actual name is the republic of turkey and it exports most of the worlds hazelnuts at about 75%. Thanks for the chance

bostianh 05/28/2020 #

Coffee was introduced to Europe by the people of Turkey (thank you). And related to the last comment about hazelnjts, I live in the state of Oregon (united States) and our state nut is the hazelnut. Oregon state's hazelnut growers only produce 5% of the worldā€™s hazelnuts, but they produce 99% of the nation's hazelnuts. And what goes well together... Coffee and hazelnutsšŸ˜Š

Every year on 25th of April New Zealanders, Australians and the Turkish people have a memorial service at Anzac Cove to remember the Allied Forces that fought for freedom in WW2. Australians and New Zealanders travel all over the world to be in Turkey on this particular date. New Zealand is in the southern hemisphere and is one of the first countries in the world to see the new day.
For movie fans the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies were made here.

Merhaba! I know alot about Turkey because I married to one Turkish guy! šŸ˜„ I lived in Konya for about 2 years and the last time I visited Turkey was four years ago before we moved to Corvallis, Oregon. I met my husband in New Zealand (Kia Ora, Kasa who commented above me, I love your comment! When we lived in Christchurch ANZAC day was special for us, once my husband was invited to read Ataturkā€™s quote on the ANZAC day memorial service). I havenā€™t been to Gallipoli yet, on my wishlish along with Nemrut dag, Amasya and Black Sea regions). My favourite place is Cappadocia. So far I only received one card from Turkey so I would be thrilled if I win, but if not I am so

Beaverswap 05/28/2020 #

Sorry, pressed the button accidentally. I just want to add even if I donā€™t win I am happy to leave message here and connected with you and others who are interested in Turkish cultures. Cok memnun oldum, Yuana Ates

Random facts about Corvallis, Oregon: home to Oregon Stateā€™s Beaver (Go Beavs!) and the capital of grass seeds in the world. Worst place to live if you have grass and weed allergy (like my son and I!). Bostianh comment above about Oregon hazelnut is on point (hello fellow Oregonian!).

All I know about Turkey is the capital, as I once did a school project on Ankara. I'd love to learn more!

melodia 05/31/2020 #

It's so nice to read these comments! Hopefully the participants who don't know much about here can learn from those who do =) @kasa yes! The Anzac day is very important for us :) Let me correct a typo for those who haven't heard of it though. That occured during WW1. Turkey did not fight in WW2. @Beaverswap I hope you come back to Turkey and visit all those places :)

Thank you for the chance at this swap! I would love a postcard from Turkey!

I know that Istanbul used to be called Constantinople.

The town I live in is named for General George Washington who became the first President of the United States.

Stay safe and be well!

I don't know much about Turkey, but I used to have a boss that was from Turkey and she brought in one day some Kaklava. It was good, but too sweet and I would eat it again.

A fun fact about Washington DC is that Half Smokes where invented here.

I have been at the Istanbul airport - twice - and my big disappointment was that I did not get Turkish Delights. About two weeks ago, we just visited with a young couple who came back to the USA, in Wisconsin, where I live, which has a mammoth population of mosquitoes and ticks, to visit their families and to deliver their third child. They already have two young little girls who are learning Turkish with their parents. They love Turkey and want us to come see them and take a tour of Turkey. The one thing I have wanted to see for years and years and years, ever since I saw a photo of it, is Pamukkale, the hot springs in Turkey, which combines a lovely shade of aqua with warm water in an interesting design very pleasing to see. I can only imagine how exhilarating it would be to swim there!
