Description:

I offered the suggestion to @AZmom875 based on her swaps and she gave me permission to host this one. Thank you!

My main goal was to do a swap where you rate a high number of partners, and you are not allowed to leave a silent 5. I know it is tempting since it is just an electronic swap, but you must agree to also leave a comment.

When you leave a silent 5 it sends a message

I got your swap but didnt like it

Or

I am lazy and just wanted to get the rating part over.

OR

I am sure there is 3 but you can fill in the blanks.

So for this swap you will write, #I agree, no silent 5s and then list 5 good things that have happened during this time. You can list 5 good things since we have all had to stay or home or just 5 things in general

MORE

TO PLAY YOU MUST UNDERSTAND A FEW THINGS.

  1. This is electronic

  2. As stated above, You must rate your partners, with a 5 and a Heart and a comment. No silent 5s; those are considered rude. Take the time to thank someone.

  3. You may post more than once, BUT YOU MUST comment below not on the profile of your partners

  4. Even those with lower ratings may play, but I might ban folks that I suspect will not RATE their partners.

  5. I will try remove players who do not post, if I can. I would not want any person to get ten 1 ratings for not posting a comment. I will not be able to take responsibility for players who dont follow the swap rules. So please read and comment, and rate.

  6. To rate your partners, may I suggest you do command/control F and type in the partners swapbot name to find their comments one person at time. Or just scroll down till you find their comment.

  7. PUNCTUATION HELPS

  8. YOU DOUBLE SPACE BETWEEN EACH ITEM that you list. TO GET IT TO NOT MERGE TOGETHER

Good things:

  1. More quality time with hubby

  2. Honey do list items are getting done quicker than expected

  3. Hubby made stuffed cabbage for me (yum)

  4. Saving money by not driving, going anywhere

  5. Less traffic on my road (even though I live on a dirt road, it is used as a "short cut" to get from one road to another)

I agree to no silent 5s

Good things:

1) I’ve caught up on the dvr

2) I’ve been able to rid my house of a lot of excess things

3) Saving money is always a great thing...can’t go anywhere so not spending as much

4) Weeded the entire yard front and back...ready for veggies and flowers

5) I’m getting more in touch with the baker that was lacking in me...I’m a darn good cook but baking, haha, baking was a bit of a disaster a lot of the time...not so much anymore...I’ve learned patience and how to follow directions to a T...wayyyy different than cooking and being able to do your own thang lol

I agree to leave no silent 5's

Good things:

1) I have spent more time with my family this past month than I have in years- how sad is that? But it has been a blessing and a total joy. It has showed us that we have gotten way too caught up in things, and schedules, and other people's demands of our time. We will NOT be going back to normal when this blows over- we will make time to stay close like we have been this past month.

2) I planted flowers all over my front and back yard- something I've always wanted to do but never had the time to do. I loved it! Even made a big herb garden. It was awesome.

3) Family Breakfast every morning together and Family Dinner night EVERY NIGHT. WOW. And we have made some amazing dinners to bot, no fast food/take out/ or lame meals from the freezer.

4) I taught my kids how to bake and make pancakes from scratch- now they are baking on their own and doing awesome at it. But I am getting fat on cup cakes and cookies and homemade bread!! We are sharing with ou neighbors, and post man, and the trash guys... so it has been a great thing. :)

5) No nightmare rush hour traffic/stress to endure twice a day every day, and I have only filled the car up with gas once in a MONTH. Great for my blood pressure and even better for the environment. Win-Win.

** 6) I have finished 4 books out of my huge "Must Read If I Ever Find The Time To Read" pile, and have been crafting a ton- a joy of mine that I have had on the back burner for the past 10 years as my crazy job has been so intense. This break was a Godsend in many ways, and I am so so thankful that I am in a position to make the best of it. I still want the country to get back to work ASAP because of all the people that this is crushing, but I am grateful to my eyes being opened to many positive things as a result of this.

I agree no silent 5s

  1. I have spent quality time with my little boy

  2. I am finally getting the rest I need to help with my chronic illness. I have to work to pay the bills as most do, but it really impacts my health so to be able to take time to rest I can feel myself getting a little better. Not that it will last for long, due to as soon as I am back to work it will all start again.

3 I have made some new pen pal connections through a group, I love reading and sending letters to people, its refreshing to be able to have someone new to talk to.

  1. Being able to make and cook family meals.

  2. I've had chance to finally sort my craft area out and have been able to do some crafting.

These are the good things I have noticed, that are presumably a result of the pandemic.

  1. We talk with our neighbors more, as they or we walk by.

  2. We video-chat with our granddaughter almost every day. We would ‘normally’ do that once or twice a week.

  3. Telemarketer calls seem to have decreased drastically. Nomorobo is logging only one or two a day. Yesterday, none at all. A month ago, it was three to seven a day.

  4. When we do have to go to a store or the post office, people seem more courteous and considerate of one another.

  5. There is less litter. I pick up litter, on the sides of the road I live on, about every two weeks. I normally fill two trash bags in the six mile round trip. Two weeks ago, I collected less than half a bag. I am not even going to bother again right now. In driving the road, I see almost nothing.

I agree to no silent 5s!

Five good things during this time:

  1. I had 2 weeks paid time off (but am now back to work). I was very lucky that my employer was savvy and had the funds to be able to support its' employees during this time.

  2. My husband is not employed during this time, so he is able to stay home with our 16-month-old. He didn't have any paternity leave when our son was born, so he's considering this his belated paternity leave. They are having a BLAST together and send me tons of adorable pictures while I'm at work.

  3. We have a big ornamental garden, so we are able to stay on top of planting, weeding and upkeep like haven't been able to before.

  4. I Spring cleaned, so my house is lookin' pretty good!

  5. Our time together is priceless and in a way, more meaningful, you know? Yes, there is a gnawing anxiety that comes with every day's news, but we are here together, NOW, and that means the whole world.

The good things during this time:

  1. Having the opportunity to be grateful for things I used to take for granted

  2. Having more time to study

  3. Noticing how much I love the people I'm missing

  4. Stepping away from the everyday rush

  5. Having more time to do things I like such as snail mail, reading and watching TV shows

I really like that this swap made me think about the good sides of our situation so thank you @institches =)

Here is a list of good things that have happened during this time of quarantine:

  1. Reconnecting with my family. We all spend more time playing games, doing workouts on YouTube, talking, or generally just being in each other's presence.

  2. Noticing how much time we actually DO have in a day. A lot of my time was lost in mindless tasks or in transit. I marvel at how much time I used to spend in the car or in various lines.

  3. Finally getting around to (some of) those projects around the house. Also, I've noticed that some house projects will never get done, no matter how much free time is given (lol)

  4. More time to work on art crafts and painting

  5. Joining Swap-Bot :)

I agree, no silent 5s.

I love this one... Because if this year has taught me anything it's that difficult times and challenges are where you can grow the most. Don't miss the blessing of this season!

Five good things:

  1. Closer walk with Jesus, I've read my Bible for the first time in what seems like forever.

  2. The chance to change career and use my skills in a different way. I am sure it will help me be a better teacher when I can back in the classroom.

  3. Swap-bot! I had no idea this world existed till a month ago. I love it.

  4. Making friends in the strangest places - like the lady who cleaned my isolation motel. We still talk!

  5. Trapped indoors surrounded by craft! Although I love people and I'm going slightly crazy, to have time for craft... it's really great.

catlingmex 04/25/2020 #

Agreed.

  1. The hubs and I both still have our jobs full-time.

  2. I´ve learned I can work from home. I am not enjoying it, but I can do it for awhile.

  3. I´ve been able to be "present" in my previous parish churches, even though they are far away in other states and countries, due to livestreaming.

  4. There is less laundry to do because I can wear the same thing multiple days (due to working from home).

  5. Saving money because of much less need for gasoline, eating out, buying stuff, etc.

CherryBlossomLady 04/25/2020 #

OMGoodness- yes- so much LESS LAUNDRY. Loving that!!

And loving the extra time to pray together as a family. We will be keeping this new habit... it has been so rewarding and comforting to pray together and hear each other's prayers.

Fabriqueen 04/25/2020 #

I agree, no silent 5s

  1. Spending more time with my hubby.

  2. More time for organizing and cleaning.

  3. Cooking more meals at home.

  4. I actually had time to read an entire book.

  5. I'm forced to actually learn how to order things online. It's still not my favorite but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

Kirkdebb 04/25/2020 #

I agree no silent 5's.

With my husband working from home, he has more time and energy to help out. The yard has never looked so good and things on my honey-do list are getting done!

I've had more help with spring cleaning and organizing from my kids than I ever have gotten before.

More craft time with my kids!

We've had a lot more time to go for walks together as a family. My husband calls them family adventures. We were walking in the state and national parks until they got closed down. Now we've been finding some smaller trails in the woods nearby. It's been great for all of us to get some fresh air, spend time together, and let the younger ones run to get energy out. Everyone is much happier when we get out of the house together.

It's been fun to cook and bake with my children. I've been taking turns with each child making a recipe they choose. It's been fun to try new things and they get to learn some cooking skills.

RiverTopanga 04/26/2020 #

I promise not to leave a silent 5

  1. Good thing: I get to spend more time with my bird. She loves having me around all the time!

  2. I don't feel obligated to talk to every neighbor when I go out to get the mail.... sounds bad, but my neighbors are Talkers - with a capital T. I have a bad back and a bad ankle, and standing at the bottom of the driveway talking for hours is NOT my idea of fun!

  3. I am spending more time on swaps. I love creating... and now I don't have to feel guilty if I spend extra time doing it!

  4. I am enjoying my deck. I have not enjoyed the deck much since moving here, now I am having meals on the deck... and my bird gets to come out (in her cage) and join us after we eat. She loves it!

  5. I am not spending a ton of money on gas for the car - Yay!!
