About Me

Profile last updated: 5/14/2010.

I always send! If you're worried about a swap, please contact me.

My name is Kenzie and I'm 36. I am curious by nature, a farmer at heart, and I believe every great venture begins with a book and have never thought "I can't do that" only "where's the book that will teach me how to...?"

I am married to my college sweetheart and a stay at home mother to a gorgeous toddler boy. We share our house with a brain damaged manx (Pilsbury) and a calico with a drool problem (Lokai).

In my spare time (haha) I craft. Mostly sewing and fabric related crafts. I love to make plushies but have recently found a fondness for bags and skirts also. I have a small Etsy store where I sell loveys for babies and toddlers.

I am also a paper hoarder. I love paper crafts and just paper and pens and pencils in general. My love of paper extends to books and reading. I love to write and am working on a paranormal romance manuscript I hope to finish and submit for publication.

For entertainment I read books (mostly paranormal romance) and magazines (mostly parenting and cooking), watch tv (Bones, House, Eureka) and watch movies (stupid action flicks, Sci Fi and Fantasy).

Crafts and Hobbies

Sewing! Plushies (stuffed animals), bags and skirts mostly. I'm always on the hunt for awesome fabric, prints and patterns for plush animals. I'm a big believer that your fabric stash can never be too big!

Paper! I love paper of all kinds. I enjoy crafts like card making, scrapbooking, painting (acrylics), and drawing. I want to try making ATCs some day. I hoard paper, pens, pencils, sketchbooks and all paper related things. I love to write both on the computer and with pen and paper.

I am hobbyist photographer and have a Canon 20D that I'm absolutely in love with. I prefer to photograph animals, but moody settings like cemeteries and nature also capture my fancy.

I have always had a love affair with horses and I'm currently the owner of an Appaloosa gelding. He lives on my Father's cattle ranch where I visit and ride as often as possible.

I have a 55 gallon freshwater fish tank with live plants and tetras. I don't have much time for it anymore, but I still love to sit and watch the fishies. I love going to aquariums and have been to the Georgia Aquarium, the Aquarium of the Americas, the Chattanooga Aquarium and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Stuff I Love

Bunnies, Deer, Sheep and animals in general. Anything with an animal theme, especially if it's cute or cool looking.

Bento: I love cute Bento accessories like soy containers, egg molds, etc.

Colors & combos: bright colors, nature inspired tones, black, green, and blue. I'm not a big fan of pastels, unless it's like sage or mint green. For jewelry I prefer silver over gold and wear mostly necklaces.

Geekery: World of Warcraft, Firefly, Farscape and general geeky things. Punk and geek baby items are also awesome.

Items from others countries: I love receiving little unique things that I can't get in the US. Anything interesting and unique to the country, as well as fabric of course.

Animals: I love all animals, and obscure ones are awesome. I love anything with an animal on it. Art, stickers, paper, figurines, jewelry, absolutely anything. My favorites are bunnies, sheep, deer, wolves, owls, big cats (tigers, snow leopards, etc.) and platypuses (platypi?). I also love marine life of all kinds.

Tea: I love tea. Loose leaf or bagged, herbal, floral, rooibos, black, green, white I love it all. My favorites are Assam, Vanilla Rooibos and Irish Breakfast. I'm currently pregnant so limited to caffeine free varieties.

I would be thrilled to receive: tourist magnets (3d/quality ones, not flat photo magnets), postcards from where you live. Toys/action figures of any kind, Anything Stitch (from Disney's Lilo and Stitch), anything Alice in Wonderland (from any version), maneki neko/lucky cat anything, pens, paper, kawaii (animal themed), stickers, tea (any kind, loose or bagged) and nicely made ATCs or other crafts.

Nail Polish: my one girly indulgence. I'm an OPI lover, and would be thrilled with big or little bottles of OPI polishes.

Craft stuff: Pens, pencils, fabric, trim, craft punches, patterned paper pieces, stickers, buttons, ribbons, brads, eyelets, embellishments, paper/fabric flowers, ATC blanks, origami paper. I would love plushies, any crocheted or knitted things (I can't do those!) or anything else handmade with care.

Themes/styles I love: Stars, books, skull and cross bones (especially historical), retro 30's and 40's style, animals, Japanese items/style, cherry blossoms, weird/unique things, dinosaurs, pirates, ninjas, Egyptian things, kitties, bunnies, sheep, deer, science fiction.

Wishlist

Handmade: whimsy jars, animal plushies/stuffies, amigurumi, bags/storage buckets, knitted or crocheted things

Non-handmade: cloth napkins or unpaper towels, cute push pins, souvenir/kawaii/unique pens, skeleton keys, magnets, gift cards: Target, JoAnn's

Anything from or inspired by my Etsy favorites or Amazon wishlist.

Family

My husband works in IT and loves flight simulator games like WWII Online. He is an audiophile and has a great fondness for 80s music while enjoying modern rock/alternative bands. He loves all sorts of music really. He likes dark chocolate (I prefer white). Fringe and Family Guy are his favorite TV shows and he has a fondness for horror movies of any ilk. My son is two years old and going through a dinosaur phase at present.

We are not religious or political but we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. I cloth diaper, use all Method brand or homemade cleaning products and keep paper towel use to a minimum (gotta have something to clean up hairballs).

Our pets are part of the family, and I judge people by how they treat their animals. I'm an intelligent animal welfare advocate. Hunting and euthanasia are necessary evils brought about by human actions and will continue to be necessary until we solve the underlying problems of overpopulation. I support animal welfare causes and organizations focusing mostly on shelters and others on the front lines.

Things I'd rather not receive

  • Christian religious items (other religions are welcome, if the item is interesting)
  • Things smelling heavily of tobacco smoke
  • Political items
  • real fur of any kind
  • Anything depicting or referring to dead, mistreated or suffering animals (including PETA literature, etc.)
