Eight years ago I made a list called 50@50. The list was 50 things I was going to do over the course of the year. (It was my 50th year.) #15 on the list: create and trade 50 Artist Trading Cards. I've lost count of how many I've traded, but thanks to Swap-Bot, I have hundreds in my collection. I love the idea that each of us takes just a word or phrase and expresses it in a space of 2.5 x 3.5 inches. I'm always amazed at everyone's idea of the same word.
During the week I work as a Financial Planner. When my brain gets tired of the minutiae of home owner policies or the nuances between the broker markets versus the dealer markets or how to calculate beta and alpha of a stock, I head to my studio to create ATC's. I give my left brain a break and exercise my right brain.
Early morning, home-made ice cream, seed pods, BBC podcasts, textured fabric, outdoor sculpture, High Line Park in NYC, rivers, the midnight sun, old maple trees, Gettysburg, rodeos, picnics under wind turbines in the middle of cornfields, the winter solstice, ice skating, kick-the-can in the dark.
The Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz. Atlantic by Simon Winchester.
Enchanted April, Das Boot, Pride & Prejudice - the BBC version, anything Clint Eastwood directs. And White Christmas because the song “Sisters, Sisters” is the theme song of my life. One of five sisters with one bro.
a cappella, Neil Diamond, Abba, Pink, Dolly Parton, Toby Keith

Thank you for the Halloween ATC. It was very cute!
The 'quest for knowledge' ATC you sent me arrived today - thank you so much for thinking of me! I so wish we had more (and big!) museums here, but alas, my little city is too small. The ATC I'm sending you is in the works, and will be mailed out this week - I'll drop you a note to let you know when it's officially en route. :)
