About Me

Hello everyone :)

I am young, wild, and single - never been married and no kids. I claim to be wild, but I'm actually pretty boring most days.

I've been crafting ever since an extremely young age. My grandma began teaching me how to sew when I was only 5, and that was the beginning of the end for me (I still can't go into fabric stores without having this overwhelming need to buy fabric!) Almost every blanket now in my house is a direct product of either me or a gift from relatives.

I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil and almost majored in art - I did take a number of art classes while in college. I enjoy drawing, painting, sculpting, and really just about anything else artsy I can get my hands on. Most of my interior decoration I've made myself and I'm currently working on a mural on my bedroom wall.

I avidly take to anything crafty, and I actually discovered this site through a friend. I was visiting her and saw a bunch of frames full of tiny colorful squared, and when I asked her what they were (because they were so cool!) she told me they were inchies. When I heard that this was a thing, I instantly knew I had to join!

I play the cello and graduated with a degree in music. I teach cello lessons, and I'm planning on beginning taking them myself again within the next couple of months. I also play with the local symphony. I own three different cellos - named Myschief (yes, with a y), Havoc, and Chaos respectively. I'm not sure why that trend started, but it did, and it just sort of stuck. I also play the piano (poorly) and pretend to be able to play the trombone and guitar. I love to sing, and I'm an AMAZING car singer. I do well in choirs too, but I'm not much for soloing. :)

I am also a writer and am currently working on getting a second degree in English. Hopefully within the next year or two I will have gotten a few short stories published (I'll keep you updated on that).

I currently work for a small regional airline to pay the bills, and also as a means to travel and explore the world - something I've wanted to do my whole life. I finally made it to Hawaii for the first time this year, and next year my goal is to make it out of the country and get my first stamp in my passport!

Other than that I'm your pretty basic nerdy girl. I love to read and always have at least 3 books I am reading at the same time. I also love video games (I actually have a ZELDA inspired quilt I am working on finishing right now!) and playing board and card games with my family when they're in town. I'm also down for a Netflix marathon anytime, and I'm almost ashamed to admit I have watched multiple seasons of tv in a single weekend (almost ashamed, but not quite).

I'm excited to be here and look forward to crafting and swapping with you, and getting to know some other cool crafty people! :)

Favorite Music

Due to my cello-upbringing, I listen to a lot of classical music, and it makes up the majority of my current music collection. My favorite composers are Kabalevsky, Dvorak, Shostakovich, Rochmaninoff, and Prokofiev, just to name a few.

I also love listening to film scores, especially John Williams. As well as musicals - Les Mis, Shrek the Musical, Into the Woods, etc.

When I feel like singing along, if it's not to film scores, then I tend to listen to the "today's hit music" station in my car.

When exercising, I prefer some nice loud Rock music. (my musical taste is rather eclectic.)

Favorite Books

Where to start??? I have two book shelves full of books in my room, and a couple boxed still waiting for me to go buy another shelf!!!

Fantasy/fiction is my all time favorite genre, but I will read just about anything so long as it's got an interesting plot and characters.

Favorite books and authors: The Seer and the Sword (Victoria Hanley), The Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss), The Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling), Shadow Spinner (Susan Fletcher), Dealing with Dragons (Patricia C. Wrede), and absolutely anything written by Neil Gaiman!

I also listen to books on audible and enjoy using that as a way to discover new authors. If you have any suggested books/authors, please, send them my way!!! I am always looking for more good books to read!

Favorite Movies

Again, where to start?

The Princess Bride will forever be one of my favorites! Classic movie!

Anything by Hayao Miyazaki - specifically My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. Those movies are absolutely magical! It's a secret wish of mine to have a giant stuffed Totoro :) and the music is stunning!

The Holiday is my go to chick flick.

Life of Pi is absolutely breathtaking - visually and musically (also a great book!)

The Count of Monte Cristo - also an excellent book.

Stardust - another great film score and book!

The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast win for my favorite Disney movies.

The list could go on forever!
