About Me

  • I don't usually send extras. I spend a lot of time and effort on my swaps and that's what I want to be rated on instead of a bunch of extras that are probably something you didn't especially want anyway. That's not to say that I don't occasionally send a little surprise to a swap partner if I have something I think that they would love or to someone that has been especially wonderful in some way.

  • I don't expect extras. I rate on the time and effort my swap partner put into their swap, NOT extras that I likely don't need anyway.

  • Please don't send: scrapbooking paper, images from collage sheets or scrapbooking supplies.

Hearts!

I give hearts for the quality of the artwork. I do expect a note describing the artwork, or maybe something we have in common. I love it when the envelope is decorated. Extras are not expected, but if they are from my wish list, they will be used. If not, I will pass them on to someone who may use them.

My name is Christi. I have been married for 9 years. I love animals, and have 4 cats and one dog.

Art is my life.

I love reading novels, drama movies, indie film, indie music, Nintendo video games, and word puzzle games. I am a sugar addict and am not supposed to eat it. I love cake and baking cookies.

I am a sarcastic person with a sharp wit, and I have a dark sense of humor. I see oddity in the every day. I do not mind profanity or nudity on ATCs. I am not easily offended. I curse as a hobby.

Favorite Crafts

I am founder of a new group called Rolodex-junkies! If you need a new addiction, check it out. http://www.swap-bot.com/group/1a59adab02f5a453e266497623af2945/about

I make jewelry and my own lampwork glass beads. (www.de-luxdesign.com) I haven't been making anything lately because the market just sucks!

I love sewing and stitching, beading, wire-working and book-making. I used to make a lot of my own clothes in high school and college, but mostly because I am freakishly tall for a girl.

In terms of art, I am well-versed in printmaking, (especially Intaglio), all forms of painting and drawing, as well as some sculpture. I am attracted to realism (John Singer Sargent), as well as conceptual art (Tom Friedman). Tara Donovan is also a favorite. The way she transforms mundane materials into something magical is something to aspire to.

FYI, I have a 360 rolodex with a cover, and would appreciate at least a little decoration on the rear of the cards.

Stuff I like

I love: Anne Taintor products, vintage 50s fabric, textiles, tablecloths, vintage fashion, esp. 50s era, old advertisements, fine art, 50s interiors, Lime green, bold color, circles, Wonder Woman, things that glow in the dark, and dinosaurs.

Things I love but don't need: post-its, blank books, stickers.

Swapping

I spend a lot of time on each swap and use one of a kind materials. I hope you will do the same. Art is a serious thing to me, and I don't send out things I wouldn't like to receive. If you are ever unhappy with something I send, I am happy to make it right because I take pride in my work. Please PM me if this is so.

Please contact me before giving me a bad rating, because USPS does sometimes make mistakes. I have had two swaps (so far) go missing, even though I took them to the post office to mail.

I rate swaps the same day I get them, and I would appreciate you doing the same for me. I will PM all partners who haven't rated to make sure you don't forget to rate me. Not rating is rude and inconsiderate of my time and effort.

Thank you in advance for commenting when rating!

When you send me a swap, please make sure to list your user name and the name of the swap on your envelope and/or on a card inside the package so I will be able to rate the correct person.

Wish List

old/vintage letters, paper doilies, Old library card catalog cards, ric-rac, fancy printed napkins, Washi tape (decorative paper tape), bakers twine! variegated embroidery floss of any color, Vintage ANYTHING, vintage ephemera, anything in a foreign language (especially vintage), old books on interior decorating, vintage cookbooks (the grosser the recipes and pictures the better), pretty handwork (even scraps or unfinished bits), kitchen towels, calendar towels, 20's-50's fabrics, old clothes patterns, feedsack cloth, cool rice papers, marbled papers, bold colors (not pastels), ATC blanks made of old textbooks with scientific diagrams, foreign language or other interesting ephemera, Tim Holtz (especially the stamps, tissue tape and distress inks). I am a sucker for cute animals, but like the weird or old pictures best.

What I don't like? stuff that is too cutesy or "country". I don't get excited about scrapbooking paper. I don't go gaga over cute kids. I don't like religious items (including angels) or motivational sayings. I abhor Anne Geddes and Thomas Kinkaide and anything along those lines.

Swap-bot turn-offs

Turn-offs:

-feathers on artwork. My cat goes insane.

-glitter does not an artwork make. (moderation! Moderation!!!)

-low-resolution and/or poorly printed images incorporated into an artwork. (unless that is the point of the artwork, obviously)

-High percentage of "scrapbooking" items or pre-packaged ATC kits.

-pithy phrases (I am the person who HATES sappy greeting cards that sound so generic and insincere... I always buy funny ones instead.)

-poorly reinforced envelopes that tear in transit. lumpy packages need padding and reinforcement! Many packages arrive with "received in bad condition" stamp and all taped up to repair the damage.

-Most mass-produced scrapbook paper. I'm not interested. It isn't interesting unless you do something special with it!

Comment: Christi, you spoil me! :) LOVE all of this red! Especially the vintage labels, the Coors matchbook, the dog license, the little calendar, the book of needles... okay, maybe all of it! :) My husband claimed the Jack the Ripper coaster for himself... probably the first time in his life he's ever been interested in using a coaster! :P Even the envelope and stamps were cool! Wonderful package, I now feel inspired to create something red! :) Thank you!!!

Comment: So incredibly cool and unique (as usual!) I Love them both! Where do you find all of this awesome ephemera!?! Thank you :) -Julia-
Response: Thanks Julia! Most of that stuff was from a 1968 encyclopedia, and the rest is from thrift stores. I bought an old Yahtzee game, mostly because of all the extra Yahtzee forms. I also buy stuff from www.collagestuff.com, they have great stuff for cheap. Glad you like them!

Comment: Hello Christi, It is OK about having your note on the orange paper. I don't dislike it that much. Thank you for the lovely "D is for Dance" ATC you created for this swap. What is so intriguing is that I chose the same word and I had chosen it before your envelope had arrived. "Great minds think alike." Thank you for your marbelized paper you sent along that I will add to my ATC paper pile and it will get used inthe future. Your ATC will be a great addition to my series "Dictonary A-Z." Happy Holidays to you and your family. Barb, sleepingrover2010
Response: You're welcome, I'm glad you like it!
