I have gotten very far behind on swaps and have gotten some bad ratings but I am trying to make everything right. Please read, especially if you're my partner or have been recently.
If you haven't received something from me, let me know! I will not flake out on you. If you haven't received your package something has gone wrong and I will do my best to fix it by whatever means. Please read the above link!
25 year old student. Majoring in Biology. I've drawn since I could hold a pencil. Youngest of 3 girls. Feminist. Crazy cat lady - I have a herd of house cats. Currently going to college full time plus working as a cashier. In a relationship with a great guy for nearly 5 years now. I sell items on Etsy with my awesome big sister. I love mail art & used to be a big user of postcardx.net Harboring fantasies of a small farm with sheep and bees and super fast internet.
I like getting useful stuff best. My favorite color is probably green, followed by yellow, pink, red, & black in any order. Pre-Raphaelites, van Gogh, Edward Gorey, & Ursula Vernon are some favorite artists. I listen to most everything but hard rap & new country - I can listen to Loretta Lynn, Billy Joel, & Kanye West in the same day and be happy. I love wearing hats & whimsical knee socks. Reading 'Calvin & Hobbes' makes me happy. I don't care one way or the other about Hello Kitty but love My Melody & Tarepanda. Becoming more and more interested in green living & self sufficiency.
If you want to know anything more, feel free to message me. :)
polymer clay figurines. knitting. drawing. aceos & atcs. mail art. spinning - I have a wheel, kickspindle, & drop spindles. needlefelting. embroidery. collage. painting. reusing & upcycling. anything really - especially involving fiber or paper. micron pens are an addiction, as are sketchbooks. I would love to learn how to sew properly.
Fantasy & non-fiction. King Arthur legends & Elizabeth I. Terry Pratchett would have to be my favorite author if I chose only one. Romance novels are fine as long as they're good ones & not trashy bodice-rippers - historical is ok, stupid is not. Science and/or history related is great.
Books: The Color of Magic. Dealing with Dragons. The Ordinary Princess. The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul. Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. The Giver. The Last Kingdom. The Secret Life of Bees. The Autobiography of Henry VIII. Pride and Prejudice. Dancing Naked in the Mind-Field. The Cyberiad. (I don't actually have a copy of either of the last two, so one of those would be cool to receive.)
Authors: Dr. Seuss. Nora Roberts. Stanislaw Lem. M.M.Kaye. Terry Pratchett. Douglas Adams. Neil Gaiman. Emilie Richards. Patricia Wrede. Bernard Cornwell. Jane Austen. Tom Robbins. Terry Brooks.
I usually try to throw in some extras just on general principle. If you want to throw in extra goodies specifically for hearts, here are some things (subject to change) that will most likely put you on my favorite people list:
My 6 yr old nephew loves Transformers, superheroes (Batman, Spiderman, etc) & Lego so if you have things like that lying around & want to chuck it in for him, that'd be very cool. He's also into dinosaurs, helicopters, space, cars, & the like.
TREE NUTS. My boyfriend is allergic and while as far as I know I am not allergic to anything, I don't care for nuts other than the occasional pecan. So I'd prefer not to get stuff with nuts in it. That includes peanuts but not peanut butter. Thanks!
Don't like overly patriotic stuff (meaning shmaltzy rah-rah crap - Declaration of Independence postcard = awesome, big eagle with God Bless America = not so much). Can't stand Thomas Kincade. I like royal purple & wine shades but otherwise feel kind of meh towards purple. Though I really like purple and yellow together in all shades.
I really don't like coconut or super dark chocolate. Or white chocolate. In fact, I prefer Hershey's to Godiva. (So uncouth, I know.) Prefer silver & brass to gold too, I'm a rebel. Don't like Earl Grey or cinnamon but love pretty much all other teas. Loose or bagged, doesn't matter.
Don't like stuff that contains a lot of weird chemicals.
Please include the swap name somewhere on your envelope or your username somewhere on the inside, otherwise I might not be able to rate you. I think I'm still a bit behind on ratings right now but I promise to rate you asap.
Please feel free to recycle/reuse packaging when sending stuff to me! I'd actually prefer you to do so.
Thrifted stuff is almost always fine with me. Just about everything in my house is from thrift stores and the like. Money and time is tight for me and I know it's the same for a lot of others. Handmade stuff is more than welcome and don't sweat it if you have to mail a day or so late for some reason. I'd rather have something you made & get it late than get some thoughtless store bought item early, any day.
Random list of some more stuff I like:
robots. turquoise. honey. fetish bears. embroidery. ravens. fairy tales. the desert. the woods. wool. bees. pretty old bottles. daffodils. strawberries. mushrooms. tiny acorns. little red riding hood. candy canes. cadbury creme eggs. chipmunks. myrna loy. vikings. national geographic. jane goodall. burt's bees products. dumbo. homemade bread recipes. weebles. chickadees. katharine hepburn. postcards. nintendo. twinings tea. felt. whimsy. ladybugs. spinning wheels. snails. rubber stamps. clover. rocks. sleeping beauty. queen anne's lace. vintage. brown kraft paper.
I don't like rudeness, materialistic tendencies, or drama queenism. I pledge to be nice.
TV: Pretty much anything British: QI, Mock the Week, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, As Time Goes By, Coupling, Kingdom, Waiting for God, Top Gear, Kitchen Nightmares, and many many more.
The Big Bang Theory is an absolute favorite. I have a slight crush on the character of Sheldon Cooper. Dirty Jobs, Sports Night, Friends, The X-Files, The Office, Flight of the Conchords, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, anything science or history related...
Don't really watch much on the main networks other than The Office and Big Bang Theory. Craig Ferguson cracks me up though. Mad Men keeps pulling me in, it's all Jon Hamm's fault. That and the wardrobe.
Movies: In no particular order: The Thin Man. The Princess Bride. Dumbo. SLC Punk. Sleeping Beauty. The 5th Element. Hot Fuzz. Pride & Prejudice (BBC Miniseries with Colin Firth). About a Boy. Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Catch Me If You Can. Rocky. Just Friends. 40 Year Old Virgin. My Neighbor Totoro. Doctor Doolittle (the original!). Charade. The Philadelphia Story.
