NOTE: I do not flake. If you have not received a swap from me, please PM me and we will sort it out. Thanks!
I'm a writer, editor, working-at-it artist crazy for collage and mail art. Always looking for inspiration, ephemera, and mail art friends and opportunities.
How I spend my time when I'm not at work (at a not-for-profit organization)? - hiking, beachcombing, paddle boarding, gardening, cooking, creating art, writing, reading, trolling through thrift shops, history of the west coast of Canada...
I live in a rural, seaside town in Canada, love to travel and experience the world through art, food, architecture, music, new friends...
Although swapping art, ephemera, etc. is fun, I am most interested in establishing some longer term friends who would like to exchange letters and mail art on a fairly regular basis (not excessive, but every few months or so would be nice).
Fairly eclectic and wide-ranging- The Clash, Lady Antebellum, The Waifs, Indigo Girls, Mumford and Sons, Tom Waits, The Wailin' Jennies, etc.
I'm pretty open to any and everything you care to send me except anything that is too "cutesy" or pastel. (I am also not interested in anything religious, except for stamps, vintage items, iconography, etc. In essence, no quotes from the Bible for me, please.) I love the tired, well-travelled, well-worn, quirky, kitschy, irreverent, ironic, vintage, etc. Historical photos, older postcards (especially those of Canada), postage stamps, mail art, ephemera (especially from countries whose primary language is not English), real vintage ephemera (as opposed to faux vintage, but I won't complain if faux creeps in!). I'd love to receive work made by your hand, regardless of whether you think you're an artist or not.
I also appreciate postage stamps and prefer them with paper attached. In fact, if you are a stamp collector, you can send me the bits of envelope that remain after you soak off the stamps, especially if the paper is yellowed or has bits of postmark, writing, etc. I have a project on the go!
I have a passion for collage and mail art, so am always happy to receive either of these or materials that can be used to make them. If you can glue it down, you can bet I'm interested! Would particularly love to receive images from older magazines and catalogs, old office supplies, "ephemera" from your home (ticket stubs, game pieces, postage stamps, other bits and bobs).
I adore travel and have been lucky enough to travel a fair bit - India, the UK, France, Poland, Jamaica, Venezula, New Zealand, Tonga, etc. Sadly, I did all of these adventures before I was a collage artist and fan of mail art.
