I’m 43 but a kid at heart. I like all things weird. I have two teenagers and a husband. I grew up in Renton, WA and didn’t go too far! My training is as a nurse but I don’t know what I want to do when I grow up still. I currently work as an Anticoagulation nurse. I stopped drinking alcohol 6 years ago hence, I’m a sober mermaid. I’m a bit of a goof and spend a lot of time “snapping” my life on Instagram. Follow me if you like! @mermaidsandmailboxes
You can hear me on Episode 97 of the Postcardist Podcast (if you love postcards you should subscribe) https://thepostcardist.com/e97-mermaid-tales/
I am a culturally Catholic and while I do not practice I very do much still adore the beauty of its traditions and teachings. I do not mix religion and politics. Please do send me Catholic related items however.
I have been a photographer since I was 15 years old and enjoy candid and portrait photography along with manipulating angles and creative photography
I collect a lot of things, mermaids (send the postcards my way lol) in particular but I love old medical items, religious iconic art, interesting ceramics, enamel pins and weird stuff in general. I talk too much about serial killers (sorry not sorry) and Deadliest Catch (I talk too much in general). I’m obsessed with all things Hawaii and I LOVE coconut everything. Anatomy and science are AWESOME. I like trivia and memorizing historical stuff.

I don’t do judgement... I’m more concerned by someone’s character than their choice of partner, faith, color, or place of origin....so on! I support human beings. I am a huge ally of the LGTBQ + and I believe love is the answer.
I started writing again to combat the isolation and loneliness that comes with an invisible, chronic and very painful condition (I look fine to everyone else). I count my blessings and I refuse to give up even though many days I do want to. I try to live like I have little time left, not a lifetime to come. I try to love all people the way they feel they deserve, not the way I think they deserve. Bottom line is everyone deserves the love that we believe deserve. Mental Health Matters!
I love all postcards and I collect all mermaid cards, which I have over 250. Even duplicates are added to my collection. I would like to get Lou Paper cards this year as I have never collected those. If you need help picking a card, here are some others I collect or love; Goonies, Pink hotels (houses and places too), Coconuts, Leonardo Dicaprio (any), Deadliest Catch (crab fishing, fishing boats), Nurses, Coca Cola, anatomy, medical, pharmacy, German Shepherd Dogs or dogs (I love Chihuahuas too), Ukraine related, Accidentally Wes Anderson, Sanrio Twin Stars, weird and odd things, Dance (all but ballet is my favorite), Opera, theatre arts, storms, weather related, history, British Royals, 1980’s movies and pop culture, K-Pop, Hawaii, flamingos, otters, military, Navy.
Non Fiction True Crime (serial killers) or Medical Best Sellers, Brene’ Brown books. Favorite books: A Few, Sarah’s Key, The Alieniest, Working Stiff, Flu, Boink, Starvation Heights, Gone Girl, The Night Circus, Defending Gary, Stiff, Spooked, Angelology, A Discovery of Witches, Relapse, North By Northwestern, Help From Above,
ALL Leonardo DiCaprio films so if you got postcards send them my way! Goonies, The Little Mermaid, Jurassic Park, Stardust, Titanic (I saw it 3 times in the theatre), The Notebook (I know cliche, but it’s a great movie), Atonement, A Star is Born, Indiana Jones series, Ghostbusters, Top Gun, Romancing the Stone. The Gods Must Be Crazy, 1980’s movies obviously!
Deadliest Catch (never miss it)Criminal Minds, and Super Store, Project Runway, and other competition shows are my favorites.
Also, How to Get Away with Murder, American Horror Story, Glee, Super Store, The Knick, Black Mirror, Mind Hunters, Jack Ryan, Project Runway Killing Fields, Monsters Inside Me, Mystery Diagnosis, pretty much anything on Discovery ID channel, Chopped. I stream Hulu and Netflix series and binge series on rainy days.
Thrift and junk hunting, Junk journaling, Bible Journaling, watercolor painting, drawing, collecting interesting ceramics, chalk painting furniture, writing, collecting mermaids, collecting vintage medical items, collecting, pharmacy or apothecary items, collecting vintage decor, collecting enamel pins (mail related, quotes, funny).
Real, human, stories, that’s what inspires me. I am generally interested in anyone who has something they want to share about themselves. Your strange coincidence, six degrees of separation, past and present colliding, I want those stories. Your triumphs and struggles and how you fight or overcame (because that matters).
I have some of my own that I hope inspire others too.
