Hi, I'm Sigrid and live in northern Michigan in a small town surrounded by farmland and woods. We have a post office, a gas station, 2 family owned restaurants, an ice cream store, a small hardware store, 2 churches, and a Dollar General. It is probably the friendliest town in America where we wave at strangers in passing, greet you as 'honey' or 'sweetheart', and care about each other. Neighbor's respect neighbors and alert each other of the occasional trespassing of bears, cougars, skunks, coyotes and possums.
My hobby is making things in vintage French Shabby Chic. It's dainty and feminine with flowing fabrics, laces, delicate flowers, and some fo my favorite things to make are: Personal Journals, Snippet Strips, Tags, Cards, Pockets and folders.
I collect Ephemera, Sari silk ribbons, antique fabric and laces, beaded lace, handmade lace, coffee or tea stained papers, fussy cut flowers, old die cuts, and I prefer feminine colors, usually pastels.
I've always been especially fond of Miniatures that are "true to scale". I own a Z scale train set which amazes me every time I use it. Z scale is really small and one can compare a box car to a thumb. It's so cute.
Swapping with you is very important to me. I send within the timeframe allowed, sometimes much sooner.
I normally rate your swap the day I receive it, or the day after. You deserve to know that the effort you put into your swap was received.
If either of us are not able to complete a swap, or will be late with one, let's reach out and let each other know what to expect. I'm easy going and understand that sometimes life happens.
This hardly needs to be said being that most swappers send thoughtful, beautiful things. But I do not to appreciate anything related to:
Politics, Occult, Riskey, Witchy, Dark Themed, Race bashing, Off-color, Halloween, Tarot, Astrology, you get the idea.
One wall in my craft room is nearly 1/2 covered with all the beautiful things that you made and sent to me. I seldom toss anything away (except for things mentioned in my "Dislikes" section). Even some of your handmade envelopes go up. It is such a joy to walk into that room and see all the creative talent that God has blessed you all with. Even if you think your crafting is not that great, it's wonderful to me, and I so enjoy seeing it on the wall.
Dear Residents of Amberleigh,
I should like to introduce myself as Mrs. Lucy Hargrove, a new resident of Fairfax Gables in Amberleigh. Mr. Owen Hargrove who recently departed to the Continent on business shall be away for an entire year. We will miss him dearly until he returns. Catherine, our firstborn has come to live with us ever since her husband Charles died in the war. She is a wonderful painter of all things nature and has already sold several paintings. Christine, the youngest has taken on work as a nurse for the local Doctor who does wonders for the residents of Amberleigh. She is engaged to be married to Mr. Hunter Buckley of Edinburgh, summer next.
My profession as dyer of cotton and wool is coming along quite nicely. Already, Mr. Cecil Wellington who owns the Mercantile has invited me to sell my goods in his shop. Oh dear, I do hope that Owen will remember to look for silk fabric during his journey away, as it is most difficult to acquire here, and many seamstresses are inquiring of it.
Since moving to Amberleigh we have been greeted by one friend after another, each one offering any help that we might need to settle into Fairfax Gables especially since Owen is away. I do believe that we will all be very comfortable living here.
