Hello, it's nice to meet you.
I'm a British mum who works in a school and loves arts and crafts, fish keeping (other half says I have too many tanks but I totally disagree), the colour purple, anything in velvet, leopard print and rock music.
I spend as much time as I can in my craftroom making things and enjoy knitting, embroidery, painting, drawing, polymer clay art doll modelling, and craft supply hoarding.
I'm a bit obsessed with Christmas and spend all year planning for it.
I've now read a few other people's profiles and feel my profile is woefully inadequate so I'm going to try and change that. Hopefully it will read a little better now.
I love doing all sorts of crafting. I have turned the spare room into my own craftroom, where I have all my many arts and crafts supplies carefully hoarded and lots of special items and pictures on display. I also have a pretty little planted tank full of red cherry shrimp to keep me company while I work.
I love to make tiny fae type folk with wire and polymer clay for their body's and heads. Their clothes I knit from crochet thread and lace yarn with 1.5mm needles, or I sew from scraps of fabric. Their hair is made of brushed yarn, and their eyes are black glass beads. Once the little person is made, I build their own unique home with twigs, foam board, and lolly sticks. I'll decorate their home with patterned papers, felt for carpets, fabrics for curtains, and fairy lights. Lastly, I make all their belongings and furniture from lolly sticks, twigs, paper, cardboard, beads, buttons, acorn caps... you name it, I use it. I also like to hand embroider tiny tapestries and rugs. I spend many hours in my craftroom when im not at work. It's my happy place.
All that means I can literally be sent anything in a swap, and I will love it and definitely use it.
As I said before I am obsessed with Christmas. I spend all year making or buying gifts and planning the festive period. Working in a school means I get a couple of weeks off which is spent baking, eating, drink hot chocolate listening to carols and watching christmas films. I really do love it. I have enough christmas jumpers to do no repeat for the whole month, I know I seriously need to get a life but I don't see it happening anytime soon lol.
So if your in a swap with my in June and think oh I have that christmas..... left over. Then yeah I will totally love it and not find it remotely strange to get it in summer
I go to a lot of 1940s and 50s days as well as war-time museums and second-hand shops. My teenage daughter is obsessed with the 40s and 50s to the point where, if she's not in her school uniform, she's dressed as if it was the 40s or 50s and has done her room up to look like it is that era (ignoring the TV and mobile phone charger lol). I spend half my life on the search for anything Elvis and or vintage. It's become our thing, and I love how excited she gets when we find something genuinely vintage or that looks the part, or just anything with Elvis on.
I love anything that lives in the water. I have three large, three small and one nano tanks in my home. I have two axolotls called Sherlock and Moriarty. Oranda goldfish called Jonny and Cash. A community tank with Cory Dora's, bristle nose plecos, ammano shrimp, apple snails, guppies, danios, and some tetras in. I have a group of Vampire crabs known collectively as the lost boys. A clown fish and an anenome called Sharky and George. A beautiful red beta fish called Devil (the name was earned). And finally a nano tank full of red cherry shrimp.
