I also have problems with my local post office. But I go to work to another town and there's small, amazing post office. It's owned by a couple and they also sell lamps, kitchen appliances and vacuum cleaners. They don't have televisions but they'll order one whenever someone needs. :)

I do like stamps on the mails which I receive - I understand how it will be in the U.K., just like you talk. Here, I ask them to put stamps instead of the seal which is issued by post office. Now some of them seem to remember me and offer me stamps whenever I go to the post office and I can even choose the stamps. :)
