About Me

I am a mother at home who homeschools her two children. I am trying to balance doing some fun hobbies just for me with raising and homeschooling my children.

I volunteer with Boy Scouts and my son's rowing team. I am a writer and a blogger).

I read a lot.

I have been doing ATCs for 4 years, then took a break, they were my portal to begin making art and the wa I found out about doing "alternative art". I like to do various altered art projects, collage, and also keep a journal/artist journal. I am experimenting with metal in making art. I am trying to teach myself to draw also.

I have focused mostly on knitting in the last few years.

I love photography and use a DSLR and my iPhone4. I love playing with Instagram.

If I could I would make art and play around with projects all day long...but responsibilities intervene.

Favorite Music

Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett, Tori Amos. I listen to some 80s pop, too. I love Broadway soundtracks - Les Miserables and Phantom of hte Opera are my favorites.

Favorite Movies

I don't like many movies. I prefer reading books.

I'll change the subject---my favorite artist is Kurt Schwittters and I love the Dadaist artists work. I love collage.

Favorite Crafts

collage, mixed media collage, artist trading cards, journaling, artist journals, learning to draw, metal crafting, hand carving rubber stamps. I knit. Want to learn: lino cutting, wood cutting, and screen printing.

Comment: Thanks for the ATC's! I thought the techniques you used were great and I'm now keen to try the ultra thick embossing enamel (hopefully I can find it here in Australia!). I also really enjoyed the additional photograph ATC. Thankyou!!

Comment: Great ATCs. What is the bubbily stuff on top? It's fascinating. Thanks for the extra photo ATC also.
Response: The top coat is Ranger brand Ultra-thick embossing enamel otherwise called UTEE for short. Those ATCs have two layers on them. It is a clear embossing enamel, a very fun product with lots of uses. You can read more about it on the Ranger website as well as doing searches for UTEE. You can make jewelry and charms with it as well as stamp into it when it is hot and all kinds of other things, too.

Comment: Dear Christine--Thanks for the sky! I love the contrast between the 2 ATCs: the greys of the clouds in one and the oranges of the sunset in the other. And the extras are cool, too!

Comment: Thanks, I like the holder too!
Response: Thanks for the compliment. To be honest I didn't make the holder, another swapper sent it to me and I decided to re-use it to send to you rather than to throw it in the trash. :)

Christine, as we discussed, I wouldn't mind going back and re-hosting some of the previous swaps. That would give some of us that missed out on the previous ones a chance to catch up. And then maybe you'll be free to begin hosting the new ones again. You've done such a great job on these, I for one would love to see you host more of them. Thank you so much for introducing this book to swap-bot.

ChristineMM on Mar 2, 2008:

I am too busy to host swaps right now. If someone wants to take over hosting the series about ATCs based on methods in Bernie Berlin's book, go for it. I may join it if I have time to participate but I just don't have time to host the swaps.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the past, you are a great bunch of reliable swappers who make fantastic art!

ChristineMM on Jan 8, 2008:

I have been hosting a series of ATC swaps based on techniques taught in Bernie Berlin's book "Artist Trading Cards Workshop".

In case you are wondering which we've already finished they are: 1. Watercolor on Baby Wipes 2. Paint on paper towel 3. Leafing Pen resist 4. Stencils 5. Magazine Paper 6. Gesso and Magazine Images 7. Phone book paper 8. Emboss-resist 9. Resin Fresco 10. Glass-like resin

Keep watching for more in this series. I usually run two per month.
