Description:

I often have trouble deciding on what to write in my journal and I love adding fun things to the pages of my journal. I thought other people might have fun with this kind of thing as well. Not to forget, getting little treasures and surprises in a swap.

I have done a couple of swaps where you gather together pieces of "paper" to bind together and write your journal on (Poor Man's Journal). This time we'll just send the journal prompts written (or typed if you think your handwriting is bad) on random bits of paper. Some examples of acceptable writing material are:

♥ backs of receipts ♥ the leftover bits from a handmade card ♥ a newspaper clipping to read and journal about ♥ a slip of paper from your grocery list pad ♥ junk mail envelopes ♥ paper bags or doilies ♥ last month's page from your day planner ♥ bar/pub coasters ♥ tea bag packaging

Please do not include anything that has food residue on it but no food in it. . For instance get a candy bar that has two wrappers, gently open the outer wrap, write on it, then tape it shut.

Once you've got all of your journal prompts/project suggestions slip them into an envelope that can be glued into a journal. Decorate it just a little (or a lot if the mood strikes you). Then this envelope can either be mail art or slipped into a mailer and shipped off.

Let your imagination wander. Ask deep and probing questions to get people to write. Look up books about journaling and art journaling at the library and write/type out an art journal project. (Inspire someone to learn more about themselves and help them enrich their life, don't just ask them what their favorite color is and why...)

Here are the requirements: ♦ MINIMUM 25 journal prompts/project suggestions/material inspirations written/typed on random bits of things that can be glued/stapled into a journal ♦ MINIMUM 1 small profile surprise such as: - a favorite treat (candy, snack) - a sample of tea or cocoa - a charm, friendship bracelet, etc - a new pen to write with - an ATC ♦ a short note saying hello and introducing yourself and why you chose to join this swap

Please don't be a flake. No one likes to sit and wonder where their package is only to find that it was never actually sent.

I allow new people because everyone has to start somewhere.

If you're very new and signing up for this swap I will ask you to PLEASE do yourself the honor of really filling out a profile. If you want the best experience from this site and these swaps make sure your profile is very well filled out and include a section for your favorite treats and things you collect.

Must they all be questions? or can some be directions on how to do a new type of drawing project, or how to use an unusual material in your journal?

They can definitely be directions and creative suggestions! I should edit that.

Oh! I just signed up for this swap and I know it'll be a lot of work, so I printed it out so that I can get started. I now see that I'm supposed to do TWO of these for TWO partners?? Impossible to do two and do a really good job.j...at least for me. If this is an error, please let me know, otherwise I'm going to have to bow out...and it sounds great!

Chris, the requirement is one envelope of prompts for each partner. So you're only doing two, not four.

Let me know if it seems like too much and we can knock it down to one partner.

I don't want you to change it just for me, please don't. No one else seems to mind. However, I'd rather do 25 quality prompts on 25 cool pieces of paper than 50 rushed ones. I know you can repeat some of the prompts, but that's just too much work for me ('cause I know I'd be putting in hours of work). So I'll keep my eyes open for a similar sort of project that is for only one partner. Thanks so much for getting back to me! It's a wonderful idea for a swap!

Thanks for hosting this creative swap! I'm so glad we'll have two partners :) This way we only have to come up with 25 ideas, and make 2 of each, but we get 50 back in the mail! Awesome!

This was fun...hope you do it again!!!

Had such a wonderful time compiling my creative prompts & random bits...& really looked forward to what I'd receive in return! Being flaked on in a simple swap isn't fun, but when it involves so much more, like this one, well...

Just a caveat to all-- sadly, be aware that there are those out there that don't play fair!
