Description:

This is Beginner FRIENDLY! SENDER'S CHOICE! Use ANY SIZE Matchbox.

Use 1 MatchBox and cover the outside and inside drawer with decorative paper. You may paint the INSIDE DRAWER instead of paper. Put an image on top (summer theme) too.

Punch a little hole for a 'pull' to open the drawer or a small knob. The pull can be ribbon, several strands of floss etc. with a knot on outside of drawer, a brad, ... These are just ideas..if you have a different one that's fine.

Fill the drawer with tiny items, SUMMER THEMED. Examples: charms, sticker flakes (meaning one cut from a page), tiny items that fit the drawer and summer theme. #SIGN YOUR USER NAME ON THE BOTTOM.

This will need to be mailed in a little box then place in a bubble envelope. If you DON'T have a little box then wrap it with extra bubble wrap and put in bubble envelope.

PM me with questions and have Fun :)

HOW TO:

1 Measure the width of the matchbox and cut a long strip of paper the same width. Put the matchbox width-wise across at the edge of the paper.

2
Roll the matchbox across the paper, and mark the position where the last side ends. Trim the paper at the marking you made.

3
add glue to the matchbox. Fit the cut-out strip of paper over the matchbox.

4
Pull out the inside box, outline it in paper. Be sure to cut just inside the line. This is for the interior bottom of the box. Glue the paper to this box.

I have never made one of these, but want to try. Where do you purchase the matchboxes?

KraftsByKeri 05/ 4/2011 #

Thanks for the link!

@Becca4 you can buy matchboxes (with matches) at Dollar General or Dollar Tree in my area...maybe big stores, too.

I printed out the template on firm double-sided card stock and it works pretty well, but I don't know if it is acceptable for this swap. What do you say @ginabee

ginabee 05/10/2011 #

I'm using thinner scrapbook paper on mine, it sticks well.

I didn't make my question clear. I was asking if we can use the template in the link @KraftsByKeri gave us for a matchbox, rather than an actual matchbox for this swap. I printed it on firm card stock.

ginabee 05/16/2011 #

That is acceptable @bb2 as long as it has a drawer also.
