Description:

This will be both a swap, and a WTA.

You will write 4 letters or postcards to your partner... one at the beginning of each week, outlining your goals for the week, AND encouraging her on her weight loss journey. (this week I will drink water, not soda. Or, this week I will jog 5 miles. Remember not to snack today after dinner! Etc) You will send a starting weight (or just start at zero, and keep track yourself!) and update each week with any weight lost. No size requirement for the letter.

We will try mailing letters our Nov 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th, with a WTA prize sent by Dec 17th if possible.

At the end of four weeks, we will post in the Dandelion Diet forum thread what we have lost, and whomever has lost the most will receive mail from each participant. It can be a card, postcard, letter, package, whatever you want to send. The theme?? The Dandelion Diet Duchess declares the theme! It can be handmade, or purchased, or upcycled... whatever.

(edit) the Theme will be chosen by the Duchess... BUT... the sender has the option of using either "Dandelion" or "Journey" as substitute themes. As creatively or blandly as they so chooseth. (Sender's choice)

So, one partner, four letters, one WTA prize! Oh, and a grueling diet and exercise regimen.

(raising hand) I have a question King Holly -- what does this mean:
The Dandelion Diet Duchess declares the theme! It can be handmade, or purchased, or upcycled... whatever.
What if we can't find the theme of the Dutchess's choice?

hmm... Well I was thinking it would be like tanglecrafts wtas in the zmacs group... The winner chooses the theme (dandelions, seventies wall paper patterns, skulls, calvin and hobbes, smileys, green... To name some random example) and the participants create or find a piece of mail art that fits that theme... But since you are a non crafter that might be more difficult. Let me think up a theme later today! :)

Also... each participant will receiveth from the Bountiful Generosity of our Worthy Ruler, a Small Token of Group Remembrance." You don't HAVE to be trying to lose weight to participate, though you won't win the WTA... you could simply try to eat better or exercise (walk) regularly, drink water, etc... and state your weekly goals to your partner. Then you will still get the Remembrance!

ALSO... I am thinking about doing a separate swap relating to this one, only for participants in this swap. You might have different partners, though, if we set it up as a different swap, so I need feedback. For each pound you lose, your partner will send you one item at the end of the challenge. So each participant will receive a prize if they lose weight... for example, if @Emkay loses 4 pounds, her partner will send her four items. This could be a card, a tea bag, and two bookmarks in one envelope (not counting packaging, unless it is actually part of an item). Or 4 postcards mailed separately. If @ladystephanie loses 14 pounds, her partner will send her 14 items. This could be three letters, mailed separately, and 11 stickers included in the last package. Or it could be an envie with 1 postcard and 13 printed up encouraging quotes sprinkled inside... or it might be a package with 14 gifts. This is entirely sender's choice... the only stipulation is that the number must correspond with the number of pounds actually lost... what do you think? That way the winner receives WTAs from all participants, but everyone receives some type of encouraging fun mail...

I understand the desire to encourage to the fullest, but let me see if I understand the setup...

  1. Send partner one postcard/letter a week for 4 weeks.
  2. Receive 4 pieces of mail - rate your partner.
  3. Biggest loser gets WTA envies with one prize for every pound lost.
  4. Generous King Holly will send a little "dandelion" something to everyone who participates. :o)

All of the encouragement is great. Honestly, I don't need the WTA incentive to participate. Sharing the journey is the best help. When people join they are either all in, or they're not ready. I have a lot of weight to lose, so I'm all in! If ya'll would like to send me a WTA at the end of this swap, that's fine with me. >grin!<

Well the one prize or sticker or letter etc for every pound would be a separate swap... that seemed like too much for one swap!! :) If we want to do that I will make it a related swap, but we will sign up separately. So...

1 one letter/card for four weeks
2 receive 4 cards, rate your partner
3 biggest loser gets WTA from each participant... anything theme related. Any type of mail.

King Holly will send a tiny treat to each participant. (I will have 14 available...)

Ha! You are adopting my tendancy to make lists. I like 'em.

I also like the timing of this swap. Sure, we'll have to mind our p's and q's over Thanksgiving, but get a little reprieve for Christmas. Handmade postcards need to be 4-1/2" X 6", if you don't mind spilling your guts to the world! (Punny, huh?)

I started Monday and so far so good. Do I have to re-weigh and start over Thursday when partners are assigned? I can and will, but I've been so good!!!! Thing is: I can do anything for 3 days. Come day 4 and everywhere I go I smell pizza!

Ha! You guys make me giggle! Okay, here's the Royal Decree... Luckily I have the Wisdom of Solomon. Justice shall prevail...

... Cut the swap in half, each mom taking one half! No, wait... wrong case.

Okay, send 4 postcards or letters, then hit send. Once you have sent out the fourth, that's when it's all sent. That will keep it on our dashboard so we have to think about being good all month. BUT... if it bugs you there, hit send after card one... I don't mind.

Then we will figure out (through these posts) who is the Big Winner by being the Big Loser and becoming Dandelion Duchess...Then send your WTA.

So I am fluctuating between a 7-8 pound loss. That's because I had put on several pounds just before this challenge started. Let's just call it a wrap and deem this swap a success, because we all were at least "aware" of what we were doing to our bodies.
