Description:

This is one of two first swaps I'm hosting on Swap-bot. I've participated as a swapper since 2007, but have never hosted a swap. So, I ask that you be patient with me, and ask any questions you may have so I can clarify anything that may be unclear.

This swap is motivated by a book entitled:"Her Story:Women Who Changed the World." The book features women from Prehistory to the Present who contributed to changing the world. In this swap we will be learning about 5 women during each swap .

NOW TO THE NITTY GRITTY:

  1. This will be a long term swap, approximately 2 years--don't let this scare you off. It will be amazing how fast it will go and we will be learning about lots of interesting women.
  2. You will have 1 partner.
  3. You will make 1 ATC about each women, 5 total.
  4. On the front of the ATC include a representation of the woman, the woman's name, and anything else you feel is important to include on the front of the ATC. Just slapping on a picture and the name is not acceptable.
  5. On the back of the ATC include: your name, date, number ____/123, artist(you), and answer this question: What did this woman do to change the world?

Here are the first 5 Women we will Make ATCs about:

  1. Queen Hatshepsut
  2. Sappho
  3. Aspasia
  4. Cleopatra
  5. The Trung Sisters

TO PARTICIPATE:

  1. You must have at least a 4.8 rating
  2. No unexplained 1s or 3s in last 6 months
  3. You must have at least 25 Type 3 swaps completed.
  4. This is a long-term commitment, so if you are not serious about doing quality work and sending out your projects on time then please don't sign-up for the swap. I will also review profiles before assigning partners.
  5. If for some good reason you can't get your ATCs out on time, please notify your partner.

I LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING LOTS OF FUN WITH ALL OF YOU WHO SIGN-UP TO TAKE THIS JOURNEY WITH ME.

I am so excited to host my very first swap. This is one of two I am going to host starting this month. I hope all my sswap buddies will come and join this swap and my other swap--Ancient Wonders of the World (Skinnies). You will have great fun on both swaps.

When you say it's a two-year swap, do you mean that you only want people to sign up for this one if they will do every single one in the series and no one new can join in later on? I would probably be interested in this swap, but I definitely can't make a two-year commitment - who knows where I'll be in two years!

Oh no, you can commit for as long as you want. I just put the 2 years as it will take that long to get through the 123 women, but you can pick and choose if you want or you can do it regularly for as long as you want then quit when you want to quit. It is up to you how you want to do it. Great question and it will be a good one for other swappers to read and see my answer so it won't scare interested swappers away. Have a nice evening.

Was just reading an article about Hatshepsut in a back issue of National Geographic. Fascinating stuff! I love a swap that makes me learn, I am SO down with this swap idea. ♥

This swap sounds like it will be fun and educational, I'm looking forward to taking part.

Good luck with hosting your first swaps barb, it's about time! Lol!

Also I want to clarify another part of my directions. I said "gluieing on a picture and the name is not acceptable." I did not mean that you can't find a picture of the woman and use it and most certainly the name should be on the ATC, but think about what else could be put with those items. Think about your presentation--paper you use, embellishments you could use etc. Lastly, remember you can use other art forms--collage, drawing, watercolor, colored pencils, or whatever art form you are comfortable working in.

This sounds fascinating --- but I'm a bit confused. For this #1 swap, are we making 1 ATC or 5?

sleepingrover2010 06/24/2010 #

kitturah,

You are making 5 ATCs. You are making one ATC for each Women listed above. I hope that makes things clear. Thanks for joining.
