Stained Glass ATC Swap

After getting several comments about my "stained glass" ATC's, I've decided to host a swap to share these techniques with SB. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but here goes...

Below are two of my own examples. The first was made by using cut-outs over several layers of tissue paper pieces. The other was made by coloring in a black, stamped image with colored pencils and art markers, then covering all of it with streaks of gray marker to give it a more realistic look.

These are two of the methods you can use to create a stained glass look.

Here are a couple of others:

• paper piecing: find a pattern, cut out the pieces just like you would if making a real stained glass art piece
• hand-drawn and/or hand-painted: there are beautiful images online of real stained glass. Duplicate the pattern and colors with hand-drawing, coloring, painting.

Stained glass is usually very colorful, but is more often than not shaped in either a geometric/symmetrical pattern or a specific image. Make sure your finished piece looks like stained glass, not like a randomly colored mosaic tile. Leave me a question if you don't know what I mean.

The rules:

• 1 ATC for 1 partner
• Standard 2.5" x 3.5" size. Sturdy not flimsy.
• There is no theme to this swap, but at least consult your partner's profile so you aren't making something offensive. Many stained glass patterns are religious in theme and many of us don't want religious ATCs.
• Experiment, practice and then make an ATC for your partner. If it looks like something you wouldn't want to receive, please don't send it to your partner. That's not fair.
• Do not print out an image you found online and glue it to an ATC blank. That's neither fair nor creative.
• No digital art. This is a hands-on-paper project, not hand-on-mouse.
• Do not flake. If you can't commit to sending it by the due date then don't sign up.
• Do not mark your swap as sent and then mail it out days later. I hate it when people do that. Everyone is busy, that's not an excuse.
• If something comes up, let me know please asap. I can angel but I shouldn't have to. We're all grown ups here, right?

Tip: Products like Diamond Glaze or Glass Finish brushed over your ATC will give it a glossy, window-like appearance. This is NOT a requirement, however. (The window ATC above has Glass Finish on it but it's hard to tell in the photo.)

I hope you considering joining. It's a fun technique to do. I'm pushing the due date way out in consideration of practicing this and of the Holidays.
