5 subjects? I didnt mention 5 subjects at all. I mentioned 5star brand notebooks. That being said, it was meerly a suggestion of the kind of "journal" I had in mind. I was thinking of something with bigger pages like a standard school notebook, so that things could easily be attached to the pages. Also, I mentioned that the notebook should be around 80 pages, not 5 subjects. Just 80 pages in length, which is the size of one standard one subject notebook.

I love this idea, but international postage is too expensive for me. Could you do a US only one??

Are there more people watching that are hesistant becuase it is international? If I have several more people express that to me, than I will run a US only one. :)

International is a little scary but I am not sure if I can fulfill the requirements so I am just watching for now. I should know for sure closer to the date. Great idea though!!

jess I would be more interested in a us version of this. A notebook, especially filled with goodies, could get to be expensive...like upwards of $7 or $8 to send vs the usual $2 or less here in the US. In the US you could send it media mail to save on postage, i don't think you can do that to other countries.

I love this idea! The reason I am watching this swap is because I want to try to find some stuff to put in the journal before I commit to it.

Are there 40 page notebooks? That would cost less to mail (I am in Canada)

This sounds interesting...but 80 pages by January (just that Christmas is so busy) seems intimidating. As I am new to journaling, do you have a sample page that you could email just have a better idea. Thanks! Great idea though!

@crochetjunkie I don't think you can send this via Media Mail, especially if you put magazine clippings in it. That is considered advertisements I believe....please correct me if I am wrong. Just don't want people getting in trouble or causing their partner to pay the extra.

Bookworm~ You arent actually writing anything, or if you do write, much at all. You are just compiling a bunch of stuff on the topic from different sources. some of the things yiu include could be larage and take up several pages. I think that once you get going, filling up the notebook wont be as hard as it seems. I am thinking maybe it would be best to start hunting around and see what you can come up with to include in the journal because you commit to it. Some people have been emailing me and they have some really awesome ideas!

Still thinking about doing a seperate US only verison... I will let you know...

hmmm.. I like the idea of international! They might have different and interesting things there to share! But I also agree that we should have more time.. say Feb 1st.. especially with the holidays in there!

i think some prompts would be helpful, just so it's not just a scrapbook of things we find in books and magazines and is personalized to sharing stories and opinions and points of view of the sender.

happylilartist: if thats what you want to do with your journal that is fine, however that is not part of the requirements. If you want to include that in your journal that feel free. :) Make it your own.

I'm going to watch this one... I recently finished an adult themed journal that was about 100 pages front and back. Too bad the one I recieved wasn't as x-rated as the one I sent. But I kept photos of the one I sent so I have lots on inspiration for this one!

PSS-- I mail most of my journals in the $4.95 flat rate envie. I wrap the book in paper or an envelope, then slide it in the flat rate envelope. As long as you don't use tape to close the outer envelope, they will send it as flat rate, not matter the weight. For composition books, this method works great. Not so much for thicker journals books, though ;(

As I'm from Australia, what size notebook is a 5star/schoolbook normally? I'd love to join, I'll wait and see what measurements are. Thanks.

Is the size of the notebook extremely important or just the page amount?

A 5 star notebooks is 26 X 3 cms thereabouts....

I am just wondering if I can just use a 3 prong folder and my own paper. I went to the store and found the notebook paper is not quite thick enough for the mediums I would like to use and they bleed through. I would have to glue pages together back to back and that means less naughty pages....

:) The form in which you make your journal is not at all the most important part. It's whats inside that matters more. 80-100 pages filled with goodies is what we are looking for. If you want to make your own journal that please do that would be even more special. The idea of the 5 star notebook was just a size guideline. Please use your imagtion, and dont let the journal type keep you from joining or limit you, like I said, it is not really about the actual journal at all, just what is in it.

I'm having fun with this already....

I've decided on a composition notebook. It's slightly smaller but the pages seem thicker and can be gessoed and inked and such.... I may have to glue a page here and there, but I think the end product will be... umm... satisfying.

Some may even need a cigarette!

I think international will be ok, who knows - maybe someone VERY far away has that secret we have been looking for? With all the hard work and effort we will be putting into the book I think it would be worth the postage knowing what we will be getting in the mail ourselves!

I love this idea... I just think it is way too many pages for me. Also, why not hold one that is themed... Lesbian... S&M... etc...

Well apparently our host has a host of 1's and is partially suspended. Not good.

Wow, today is the last day to send and 3/4 or more of the people haven't sent yet. I'm a little scared to put mine in the mail today like I planned. I haven't heard anything about my partner or the person sending to me. Are most of you just not going to send it?
