Description:

This swap is for 1000 square inches of fabric. That's the equivalent of ten 10" squares. The actual size of the fabric pieces sent will be according to your partner's preferences. Each participant must leave a comment after signing up stating what size squares, strips or pieces you can use. Once partners are assigned, you will need to come back here and look to see what your partner's preferences are and provide at least 1000 square inches total of fabric in the sizes requested.

This fabric swap will allow all participants to get just the sizes of pieces they want, so it's great for everyone -- except the mathematically challenged!

Here is a little cheat sheet showing how many square inches are in different size pieces to help you out.

  • 1" x 1" = 1 square inch
  • 2" x 2" = 4 square inches
  • 3" x 3" = 9 square inches
  • 4" x 4" = 16 square inches
  • 5" x 5" = 25 square inches
  • 6" x 6" = 36 square inches
  • 7" x 7" = 49 square inches
  • 8" x 8" = 64 square inches
  • 9" x 9" = 81 square inches
  • 10" x 10" = 100 square inches
  • 11" x 11" = 121 square inches
  • 12" x 12" = 144 square inches
  • 3" x 6" = 18 square inches
  • 2.5" x 44" = 110 square inches

All fabrics must be 100% cotton quilting-weight fabric. All must be new, never used. From your stash is OK, but no used clothing cuts.

Please check your partner's profile for color preferences and try to get them something they will like.

I am making this swap international, so please don't join if you can't afford to send items overseas. Just to give you an idea, I weighed a piece of fabric a little bit bigger than 1000 square inches along with a bubble envelope and it was 3.8 ounces, which would cost $3.76 to mail from the US to the UK. The actual postage amount could be more or less depending on where your partner lives and whether you add extras.

This is the first swap I've hosted, so I hope I've explained everything well enough. If not, please ask questions and I will answer them as quickly as possible. Happy swapping!

Newbies are welcome but you MUST have a filled-out profile. I will review profiles. If you are an obvious flaker, you will be banned from the swap. If I am unsure about you, I will message you and make a decision based on your reply. I will angel the swap but I hope I don't have to.

Great idea CraftsCrazy! Oh, this will be fun. I'd love to have 10"X10", or 2.5" X 44", or some 5" squares, or a combo meal! To help my partner out some, here is a clue-- I'm hooked on the following colors: blues, greens, purples!

wenot 08/24/2009 #

I would like 2.5 "strips, 3.5 x 6.5 rectangles, 5" and 10" squares. I would like orange, yellow, red or greens please

ok i'm going to put it on my watchlist... sounds like fun, but i'm supposed to tapering off the number of swaps i join to get ready for being super busy at work! .... but should i join, i'd like either, 3"x3" or 2.5" x 2.5", or both! i looove oriental-ish fabrics, especially with waves or flowers, but really anything would be great as long as there isn't too much really bright primary color combos on one square

This sounds like a great swap. I'd love to receive anything that's 5" squares or larger. I love tone on tones, in bright or deep colours.
