EDIT: I'm in Florida! You might know that we were just hit with a major storm. Some places are flooded, some are fine. Mail might be delayed in areas because of the flooding. As such, I've extended the deadline.

Hello, everyone! This is one letter, one partner. USA. An intl. e-mail version will be posted.

One letter + 2 items related to your story, one partner.

In Japan, 7/15 is the Ghost Festival. In some parts of the country, it is on 8/15. This is often Chuugen or Obon. In some parts of Japan, it is on the Old Calendar, the traditional pre-Meiji calendar. Today, these are days to visit ancestors and reunite with family, and to clean relative's graves or give honor to the dead.

It is also so hot this time of year, it is fun to stay away and play a game. This well-known 'game' is Hyaku Monogatari- the 100 Tales. It is participatory: many people come together to tell scary stories. It is somewhat like American summer camps where the kids tell scary stories, taking turns with a flashlight.

With that in mind...

What ghost stories do you know? Are there any ghost or haunting stories local to you? Is there a story you remember hearing when you were a kid, that scared you?

Write your partner a short letter. Tell the story! Include a picture or drawing if you want. Also include 2 items related to your story. So if your story is a ghost story involving... idk, a woman in a white dress, a car, and a prom or something, include 2 items like a die-cut dress or car stickers.

This swap is inclusive! If you need to type instead of write, that's fine! If there is an element like animal death, assault, or something like this, please put the words 'content warning' or CW at the top with non-specific phrase, like "animal abuse." This helps the person who is reading the letter decide whether to go on reading. Of course, you can always choose a different story that you enjoy.

Consider also decorating the envelope. Do not forget your username, swap name, and the date!

If you receive a letter, please rate a 5! Even if you don't like the story or don't think it's scary, the rating is based on having received it. If you really like the story, please consider a heart! <3

I would rather have a swap to tell our own made up ghost story. We need to get back to writing groups again in swap-bot.
