I first saw ATCs on a site in 2000 or 2001. Someone had a collection of them from art shows they went to. Of course, I wanted to overcomplicate things and found an art size that worked for me (approx. 5x7 or so.)

And then... I forgot about them. But they're super popular on SB and I need an excuse to use up supplies in new ways!

So let's make them together, with a cryptid as inspiration.

There are some ATC rules:

  • MUST be 3.5" x 2.5"
  • MUST be able to fit in one of those baseball card sleeve protectors. They're cards, not necessarily other types of miniature artworks like collages or paintings. So an ATC can be a collage if it meets those two rules, but a small collage isn't necessarily an ATC.
  • No sticker or washi "slapping," meaning you took a card and covered it with stickers and washi. There needs to be an artistic component of your own or it does not meet swap requirements.
  • MUST be inspired by a cryptid or 'parazoology.' Is it about a famous locale, the cryptid itself, a Yeti foodprint? (why did Bigfoot never develop sandals. I have so many questions.)

Sign your name + username somewhere on it. The notecard it is mailed in does NOT have to be cryptid-themed. Perhaps write a note about the ATC, your methods or why you picked that particular one.

Because this is YOUR ATC, you can make it in advance. It is not according to the other person's profile.
