Description:

This is a fun and easy swap!

Build a playlist on Youtube. That's because YT is pretty much almost everywhere, whereas soundcloud, bandcamp, spotify, etc. isn't... and tbh I'm tired of having to download more apps and make profiles to use something.

Fill the list with at LEAST 10 songs you love that are NOT in english.

Make sure the list is public, not private.

Also note anything you really liked, how you got into this singer or band, a fun memory associated with a song, a song that affected you, whatever you'd like. Is this your first or co-language? Do you look up translations, or go mostly by 'feeling' and music?

POST THE LINK TO THE LIST IN THE COMMENTS!

This way, we don't get limited to one list, one partner, like in email. Everyone can check out everyone else's playlists. <3

If your partner posted a playlist AND a note about what they really liked, etc. as described above, please rate them a 5.

Here is my playlist! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLX1BDcI1cIkyyMGUa49lUp9MZUzcsk-7D&si=3-XfR-JGNkaY7R1K

The first Swedish song is one of my favorite ever songs. It's about the passing of time and it's sung so beautifully.

The sixth song is my favorite Dutch song ever. It's about friendship and I just love the voice of the guy. His other songs are along my favorites as well.

The eight song is a Japanese song that I first discovered in a Japanese horror movie (Chakusin Ari/One Missed Call) back in 2006 or so. I have no idea what it's about because I never looked it up but I have loved it since the first time that I heard it.

The ninth song is a Brazilian one by the always amazing Astrud Gilberto. It's my favorite summer song and I loooove the clip as well.

Number 12 is a Swedish song that the algorithm of Spotify gave me once. I love it so much, the voice of the woman is amazing. It's not very well known and it has only a few views, but she deserves more!

The last song is another Brazilian song that I looooove so much. I got to know it because of Sims 2, haha! The radio in Sims 2 had all the music in Simlish so I first knew the Simlish version of this song :) I do love the original version better, but if you want to listen to the Simlish version then here's the link to that :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C7PPlqEHek Any Sims lovers who know this song as well? :)

I almost never look up translations, except for when I really really want to know. Music is more about a feeling for me.

I hope you enjoy my playlist! :)

🎢 Here is my playlist 🎢

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnqRDGUxbmn2aZsRoTLMMAsz0Ae5v4B93&feature=shared

This playlist has songs that I enjoy which are not in English and therefore not my native language as I only speak English. When I hear a song, I usually base my liking on the feel that I get and then I look up the English translation of that song. If it still resonates with me, I keep it as a favorite. 🎢

The first song came from a move I watched called Tum Mile. The love story in this movie is one of my favorite of all times. I have many favorites, but this one stuck out the most. It could have been the actors, I don't know. I know there are greater love stories. πŸ˜…

The second song is a song which came from a movie my husband and I watched together. My husband has a beautiful voice, especially when he sings. I never tell him this because I think he knows and also he doesn't need his ego bigger. πŸ˜… Anyways, I liked him singing this particular song and after translating the song to English, it made me like it even more.

For songs 3 and 4 - these are both by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. He sings mostly Sufi songs called Qawwali. These types of songs are usually quite poetic, transcendent and purely celebrate God and love simultaneously. I attended a concert and these songs really spoke to me even though I don't know the language.

Song 5 Selena - I'm in Texas. Selena is still everywhere even after her tragic murder nearly 20 years ago. Due to this, I hear a lot of her music when I'm out and about. This one stuck the most. She had an absolutely stunning voice. 😍

Song 6 - I'm just now getting into Arabic music. She is my top favorite artist. It could be because I can easily sing along since my voice is similar to hers when singing. Okay, it is probably only ME who thinks that way. But, whatever! πŸ™„

Song 7 - this song is not originally sung by the cover artist. It is actually by the individual who sings songs 3 and 4. However, I happen to like the cover artists voice and really that puts me in some sort of trance of relaxation with this particular song.

Song 8 - I have no clue where I heard this song, but her voice and these lyrics are beautiful.

Songs 9 through 13 - These are on my workout list. Ari Ari goes hard on the treadmill. The last song is great for just dancing with. πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

I have curated a collection of heart-wrenching love songs that resonate deeply with the theme of heartbreak. The songs span across various languages such as Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, and Spanish, all of which I have a decent understanding of, apart from English. While I may not be completely fluent in all these languages, I can grasp the emotions and sentiments conveyed through the lyrics. These songs hold a special place in my heart as they narrate tales of tragic love, which I find relatable due to my own personal experiences.

Singing has always been a passion of mine, especially in Spanish and Hindi. I have a knack for capturing the essence of the songs in these languages, which is why I have been drawn to singing Selena's songs ever since my teenage years. Her music has a way of touching my soul and expressing the pain of heartbreak in a profound manner. In addition to Selena's tracks, I have also included a selection of Hindi (Urdu) and a few Arabic songs in my compilation. Each song has been carefully chosen to evoke raw emotions and resonate with the listener on a deep level.

The playlist I have put together consists of more than 10 heartbreak songs that I believe capture the essence of love and loss in a poignant manner. Each song has its own unique story to tell, reflecting the universal theme of heartbreak that transcends language barriers. I hope that you enjoy listening to these songs as much as I have enjoyed curating them for you. Through this collection, I aim to convey the beauty and pain of love through the universal language of music, touching hearts and souls along the way.

Hi all! I'm so incredibly sorry for being late with my playlist (a whopping seven hours past deadline, but still), I've been unexpectedly without internet access for a couple of days because of stupid reasons (both my own fault and not). I would've given a warning in advance if I could, but you know. No internet. 😭

Anyway! Here is my... very long playlist. It has songs in Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Armenian, Breton, Greek, Turkish, Italian and Spanish. Lots of different genres, some are old, some are new. ^-^ Something for everyone, I hope!

Some of the songs or artists I've found through Eurovision, the rest are mostly just me learning a language and then finding music from that country to help with that. :D

Hey y'all!

I thought it was odd that the Share link was short vs. the URL link. Duh! It was only sharing one song!

The list was surprisingly difficult, since I didn't want to stick to all one language. The thing is that I normally play a mix of English/anything else, so there's a flow to songs and how they switch moods or tell stories along playlists/themes. Without the english songs on the list, suddenly I had to think about fitting things together and... options got much shorter. Things like a lot of German music I have is from the darkwave/industrial scene; Japanese is often v-kei or 80s rock, or violin (but instrumentals, like Sugizo's work.) French is often acoustic or trip-hop. Nordic music also tends to have a more specific sound, although it can easily be tied in with Irish-Gaelic (historical influence also overlaps.)

Fun thing: "Green Bird" in Cowboy Bebop is a made-up language by Yoko Kanno!

Some of these bands are ones I've been listening to for 20+ years. Dir en grey has changed musical style quite a bit, so the albums Gauze and Macabre are totally different from anything in the past 10 years. Although I'm not a fan of their direction, I'm really happy that they have changed and expanded their abilities so much. Like painters who invent and change styles throughout their career, they've also changed their image and style.

I've tried to find versions of videos that have english translations, although not all do. <3
