Description:

This is an "experimental" swap to see how many of you are interested in pushing the boundaries with our sticker stash! LOL!

Stickers are often given a "bad rep" here and I see a lot of swaps that frown upon art that's been sticker slapped. But I'm of a different mindset! Being a kid during the 80's I learned to appreciate and use stickers and sticker books quite often. I still have a sticker graffiti'd container where the family stores our receipts and my son's entire bedroom door has been sticker "slapped" (he swears if we ever move that door is coming with us). 🤣

So, my idea for this swap is to use one or more stickers to create our cards. You can peel and stick them to cardstock, then fussy cut around them (as seen in the image above) to create a sort of die cut. You could mount them on thin craft foam or cardboard to give them dimension. Or you can use multiples to create a scene or graffiti-style background.

Thin dollar-deal-type stickers or washi flakes can be made sturdier by decoupaging on top of them with a little plain white tissue, or napkin paper. Any other ideas? Please post them below to help our buddies out! We can all learn a thing or two from each other!

Possibilities are only limited by our imaginations!

I'm calling this experiment a sticker "couture" because the definition of couture is a "fashionable made-to-measure" design ~ hopefully, we can create some fashionable designs with our stickers!

This swap will be for:

One Set of Buddy JAMS

  • Two ATCs or APCs

  • Starter cards will both have decorative backgrounds or papers already affixed. Plain, solid-colored card-stock backers will at least have inked edges, paint, texture, or something artistic on them.

  • Set will also include TWO STICKERS (total) that can be used on the cards.

These stickers do not have to be identical and may be sent loose (not affixed) with the cards if you’d like to give your buddy options.

Please Note: These are not complete card kits. Each artist will be using personal supplies to complete the cards.

Remember to include your User ID, the Swap Title, and your Return Address INSIDE the envelope.

If your return address is on the back of each card it makes it much easier for your partner to return your homer card back to you.

You may also opt to include your return address inside the envelope as a note, label, pre-addressed envelope, or SASE (depending on if your partner is across the Northern border). 😉

Please REMEMBER A RETURN ADDRESS is required for this swap!

  • Upon receipt of the starter cards, your partner will rate a 5 (five) for creating the set based upon the swap details and group guidelines (proper size, sturdy/firm backers, return address included somehow inside the envelope, along with at least two stickers)

  • You’ll finish both cards by adding at least 2 artistic layers, items, or techniques to each card

  • Please remember to sign the back of each card ( or add your address label)

  • Then return one finished card to the original artist (using their enclosed SASE or address label)

If you’re going to need longer than 30 business days to complete the homer card, then please let your buddy know by sending them or @CookieMOMster78 a direct/private message.

Feel free to use the discussion section below, or post directly on their profile page to let your buddy know when you’ve put their “homer” card in the mail for them, and when you've received your homer card back. Or you can include it as a comment when you’ve rated them too. That’s up to you. 😉

Contact me anytime with your questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Friendly reminder about how a Buddy JAM works:

-Artist #1 - sends a pair of near identical background cards (called "starters") to their buddy (another artist in the group, assigned by the 'bot). The backs of both cards are labeled with Artist #1's name and address, and 2 focal points for the cards are included as well.

NOTE: You must include a return address label or S.A.S.E. with this initial starter set so that your homer card can be easily returned back to you!

-Artist #2 - upon receiving the starter cards, completes the cards by adding 2-4 elements/techniques to each card. Artist #2 also adds their information to the back of both cards, to record who collaborated on the art cards. Then Artist #2 returns one complete card via snail mail (called a “homer” card) back to Artist #1.

I just used some stickers on an ATC and I did just what you suggested - I cut the outside off (I hate the outlines) and they looked like die cuts. I didn't think to put them on cardstock first, just cut both parts then got the backing off. The stickers are wonderful and will make a great ATC for somebody ;)

@user6937 Thank you for sharing! I’m pleased to hear that I could maybe help some of us see stickers is a different way! 😉 They’re often so beautifully made and more affordable that die cuts! I’ve purposely purchased two duplicate vinyl stickers to put on cereal boxes and cut them out to adhere “sandwich-style” together and made an ornament with it! It was a sea turtle sticker, of course!
