International - You must have a reliable mail service and can generally expect international mail to arrive within 5 weeks.

New Participants

  • Cut postcard weight paper to United States postcard size:

    • At least 3½ inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inches thick

    • No more than 4¼ inches high x 6 inches long x 0.016 inches thick

  • Divide the front side of the PC into 4 equal sections. (You can divide it into 3 equal parts if you prefer.)

  • Decorate section 1. The postcard may eventually be mailed naked so securely adhere items to your section.

  • Turn the PC over, and address the postcard to yourself.

  • Note: Do not include postage because the last person sending it home may not be from the same country as you!

  • Divide the other half of the back of the postcard into separate writing areas and label them the same as you did on the front 1-4. If you decorated section 1 on the front side...then you will write in section 1 on the backside. This is where you leave a your username, and which Pass & Paste you are doing (for example PA: Pass & Paste #1), and anything else if there's room.

  • Sender's choice. The sender decides the theme (it can be an open/free theme). Your art can be any theme and any medium (collage, draw, watercolor, mixed media, stamped, etc).

  • Mail the postcard, in an envelope, to your partner.

Next Round

  • In the next round, use the postcard you have received from your partner in the last Pass & Paste round.

  • Decorate one of the empty sections and then put it in an envelope and send that PC forward in the next round.

Finish

  • The goal is to have each space filled out by a different artist, and then sent home to the originator.

  • When you receive a postcard with only one empty square left, decorate it and mail it back naked or in a clear protective sleeve, to the original creator. Their name and mailing info should be on the card already. You will need to add the proper postage stamp.

  • If you receive an unfinished Pass & Paste postcard please always send it on, even if you decide not to participate any longer. At the very least, send it back to the original creator. Or send it to me (P.O. Box 31013 Willowwest, Guelph, Ontario N1H 8K1 Canada) and I will forward it on. That way everyone should eventually get their postcard back.

  • If you are assigned the creator as a partner, do not send them their uncompleted postcard. Start a new PC.

  • If you get assigned a partner and they have already worked on that PC, then hold it and send it in the next round to a different partner or please send it to me. Send your partner a new PC.

  • If the finished PC is particularly fragile, lumpy, or things not adhered well, or wet weather is an issue, go ahead and send in a sleeve or envelope, though naked is preferred.

  • If anyone posts their finished PCs on social media (Flickr, Instagram, FB, YouTube, etc.), I would love a link to your post so I can see the results.

  • If you will be sitting out more than a couple of rounds, and have unfinished PCs, please send them to me so that they will remain in circulation, (P.O. Box 31013 Willowwest, Guelph, Ontario N1H 8K1 Canada).

I wanted to try this Pass & Paste Postcard. I want to know, If I do not join #1, can I start joining in #2 and I also must join all the upcoming swap e.g #3 and #4, right? I am newbie in this type of swap and a bit confuse. Is this a sender choice swap on the mail art? Can someone guide me. Thanks in advance.

  1. You can start at any round.
  2. You are not committed to join every round. If decide you don't want to do Pass & Paste postcards anymore you can send the unfinished PC(s) to me and I will pass them on. Or you can send it back to the orginal creator.
  3. I envisioned the P&P to be sender's choice. You fill in the square with your art and it can be any medium or theme. I will be sure to add that info to the description.
