Description:

This is a collaboration postcard and swap. It is similar to our regular Pass and Paste postcards (as it will have rounds), but in this series.......all artists will work on one side of the postcard forming one large collaboration of art. These are some of my favorite mail art postcards.

You can start in at any time. For your first round, you will start a postcard. To begin a postcard, address the backside of the postcard to yourself. Divide the writing portion into 3 or 4 sections, for collaborating artists to write their notes, swap info, user names, etc. On the front side, the person starting the postcard will add some Art as a base...can be collage, mixed media, painting, whatever. Each following round, the next artist will add 2 or 3 elements, and then pass it on to the next artist for the next round. On occasion you may get a partner whose card you are working on.....Do not send the artist who started the postcard their own card to work on. If this happens to you, simply start a new card, and hold that one till the next round, or you can always send it to me. When all artists have completed the sections on the back, it is ready to be sent home to the original starter.

If you send a card home to the original artist, you may need to start a new postcard to send to your partner.

The postcards can be any size. They will be mailed in an Decorated envelope, between the artists, until the maximum number of artists/spaces is reached, and then it will be mailed Naked or in a clear envelope, back to the original starter of the postcard. The person sending the postcard home will add the postage. The end result is a collaboration piece of art from 3-4 artists. No stickers please.

If you have any questions, just ask.

I would love to see these when they are finished......if you can, please post a picture in our forum. Please remember to put your user names and the swap name on each postcard you send out.

Have fun.

I read the rules...but still confused. I need explanation again.

Hey @papercraft70 what you do is divide up a postcard into sections, make art in one of the sections, then put it in an envelope and send it to your partner. Make sure to put your address in the recipient slot.

You will receive a postcard where 1 or more sections have been artified; when you sign up for the next round you will add to that postcard and send it on.

The complication is if you receive a postcard with only 1 empty section: you finish it up and send it to the creator.

I thought the difference for this one is we arenโ€™t dividing sections on the front but doing one collaborative piece. So the first person does some kind of background maybe, the next person adds a few things, the third or fourth person finishes and sends it home. Now Iโ€™m wondering if Iโ€™m confused...

Yep, BigSock, that's how it works. Thank you.
No dividing in to sections on the front for this one. First person adds whatever, maybe a painted background, or paper of some kind, or a photo, or a menu, etc.......it's their card so whatever they want. The next person adds what they want, and that continues on, until all artists have added something. The goal isn't to just place a random thing anywhere, but rather to make an art piece, created by many artists, for the original starter of the postcard.
For example, I paint a blue background on a dictionary page. The next person decides, hmm I'll add a sea and a sun. The next person adds a palm tree and land. The next person adds a whale in a hat and sends it home to the original starter.
The fun is you absolutely have no idea what you will get back. Some will be super fantastic, and some may not be to your personal liking, but each will be unique and made by several artists working together to create one art piece. Some will have an obvious direction, like the sea. Some may more abstract or geometrical, etc. They will represent whatever the artist is thinking or feeling at that particular moment in time, which to me, is priceless. As that can't be reproduced. At least not until we can time travel. ;)
They are actually my favorite postcards. There are examples in the group forum section of some collaboration postcards and I can always send you an example, if you need it @papercraft70
