Description:

Do you love packaging tape? The sound as its stretched over your package? The way it takes all oils and fuzz from you and applies it to your package to share with your swap partner?!

For this swap I'm challenging you to make a postcard out of clear packaging tape with a Valentine/Love theme.

The USPS has size regulations for postcards. This way it's not considered first class mail and you'll get the postcard rate. The postal service rules are located here: https://pe.usps.com/businessmail101?ViewName=Cards

For this swap, Postcards must be rectangular. Minimum 3.5" high, 5" long, .007 thick or Maximum 4.25" high, 6" long, .016" thick.

Here's some ideas to help you:

http://www.kimcollisterstudio.com/2017/10/tutorial-for-packing-tape-cards.html?m=1Get creative! Use things that make you happy! Share the packaging tape love!

Now for the important stuff:

  1. Make a rectangular postcard from clear packaging tape.
  2. Add fun flat goodies.. washing, sequins, stickers, magazine clippings, fun papers ect. 3.DO NOT coat a regular postcard in packaging tape! That is not the point!

As long as you receive a postcard made of packaging tape, that has flat goodies inside. Rate a 5. If it's pretty amazing to you give a heart.

I check profiles. No recent 1s or 3s. Newbies are welcome with a well filled out profile. I was once a newbie so I'm giving you an opportunity. I will angel for anyone who gets flaked on. Contact me first.

This is for US only. Feel free to host an international swap.

Any questions contact me!

1/25/19 Just returned from Post Office and thought I would report on my attempt to send clear post cards made from tape. I went to friendly PO with people who know I do mail art. Clerks and Post Master said I could not send clear tape post cards with sequins and images embedded and get the post card rate. They decided only flat paper is considered a "card". Not only did they decide they had to be considered "letters" bouncing base price up to today's rate of .50 but being unmachinable added today's extra postage of .21. Total price each was $0.71. Next week's increase in 1st Class postage stamps to .55 and decrease in non-machinable rate is .15 so total will be $0.70 each. I deliberately avoided an unknown PO so I would get friendly advise. [I did notice one of the samples shown in the invite of this swap had a paper clip embedded in it and deliberately stuck to words, images, washi tape and stickers. Only tiny seed bears and sequins were not perfectly flat. I will continue to do these but I was disappointed I could not call them post cards.

OK to wrap this up [pun intended] thanks to participants and hostess for this wonderful swap. Thought I had seen it all in 20 years but not this. What a fun stretch for all of us. A total delight. I will keep it up! Lynn
