UPDATE:YOU CAN JOIN THE SWAP and you will send your swap partner a pic of what you sent to this little girl and rate and get rated. Rating not based on price/size of sent item but on the cuteness and "catness" of it :) Have fun!

Hi all,

I hope I'm doing this the right way, but I want to brighten up the days of a 4 year old girl who is suffering from incurable cancer. She absolutely LOVES CATS AND GETTING MAIL, so I thought, what a better way to cheer her up than get her mailbox stuffed with cat-related things from all around the world.

PLEASE NOTE: this will be a different swap. She can not swap back. I might be able to get some pics of received items from her parents as a confirmation, but I can not promise anything (we live in different city and they are having hard time right now). So YOU will send her something AND a pic to of your sent items to your SWAP PARTNER. Please also note that this girl is in FINLAND and postage for parcels can be high.

In this "swap" you can send her anything cat-related you want, ranging from postcards, stickers to stuffed toys and parcels. Just bear in mind that she is only 4 years old and terminally ill (which she knows), so please respect her and her parents in this difficult situation and be extra sensitive with things you write on cards or letters (english is fine, her parents will translate it). I hope no one will be insulted by this, but please please do not send or write anything treatment related, not even suggestions for treatments and please respect their religion (christianity). Let's just share joy to her from all over the world!

I would like to see her mailbox filling up every week and I am suggesting that one batches of swappers send their items on 1st week of swap, next batch on next week and so on up until the 15th of December to get this going right up to Christmas. I will update the swap and inform the swappers if her condition gets worse to extent that swap must be stopped. I will send information once sign-up is finished.

Please comment, ask and suggest as I have never done this before! Thank you all you dear swappers! Can we make this the top swap here?

I would like to suggest that you add to the description, the address of where to send items for the little girl :) When partners are assigned, we will not be able to see the address.

This seems more appropriate for a request made in the forums. Listing it as a swap when it actually isn't is confusing and doesn't go with the purpose for the site, it seems..

Most of the charity swaps I've seen, ask for participants to send a postcard, for rating purposes. I think it's easier to determine what people should send, so that everybody sends and gets the same, it's more fair I'd dare to say.

And yes, you should write the address in this swap. I usually don't join these swaps, but I do send a little something to the person who the RAK is for, and I know some other people like to do that too, so that way you could even get more people sending cat happy mail :) I'd love to be one of them!

Maybe you could ask participants to take a photo of what they send and email it to their partner for ratings. Super easy. But you should list her address anyway because many people like me send something but don't wish to join the swap. You will get much more that way!!

Or maybe we could send everything to you and you could forward it all to the girl I large packages so you could control how much she gets so it isn't all at once. Just some suggestions. I'll be watching!!

There are many swaps I have seen to send something cherry to an ill child/adult. This is a commendable swap.

The address can be sent by a message from the coordinator. Many swap-bot members do not participate in the swap, but send something to the person swap is focused on,

If the address for this young girl gets posted on this swap, I will be happy to send her something, but will refrain from joining as well.

Thank you all for comments! So I will post this back to forum? I will not however publish address publicly but will give it in pm.I will delete this swap later,ok?

milamilamura 09/22/2016 #

If you want to get more people joining this swap, then I'd suggest you don't delete this swap, it could become more popular here than in the forums. If you don't feel comfortable sharing the address you could state in the swap you'll be sending the address to each participant and can share it with whoever that is interested and sends you a message.

I also think it's a good idea to ask participants to take a picture of their swap and send it to their partner via email, like @thebragal suggested :)

I will send to this young child, please PM me the address or put it in the forums... I will check there. I will not join the swap.

During the summer a teacher asked for postcards to be sent to her class and she did it through a swap posting where she shared the information in the description. When the send by date passed the info was no longer visible... she did have close to a hundred (or more) swappers sending to her class and seemed to be a success. I hope this will work for your purpose as well!! I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. xo

My granddaughter was 8 when cancer took her from us. I would LOVE to send this little girl some cat themed things, but I need an address to send them to. I don't want to join the swap, as it seems we send nothing to our partners, so how can we be rated?

Please pm me the address and I will send something to her. I will NOT mention her illness, nor anything else. Just something like "I heard you like cats, so I hope you will enjoy this."

JINANNE 09/24/2016 #

Please send address. Absolutely happy to join. Not the least bit interested in ratings or other minutia regarding rules and regulations. Can't we just keep things as simple as possible....this precious child wants cat stuff, and the coordinator has a kind, compassionate heart. Nothing else needed.

Elppu 09/25/2016 #

And yes, those already on swap, can send a pic of their sent items to their partner and rate and get rated that way :) No rating on the size/price of package, just the cuteness and "catness" of it , ok :)And please all PM ME FOR ADDRESS! I try to follow the comments here

I don't think that we should ask the parents for any pictures of what was sent or any other confirmation.

I am sure that they have their hands full right now - we should just shower her with cat items and know in our hearts that she is enjoying them the best she can.

We do not have to be "recognized or rated" for everything we do - some things are just meant to be done.

Thanks for thinking of her and letting us share in this lovely gesture.

Hello! Some letters have arrived to beyond-describing-thrilled little girl! Thank you all so so so much! She absolutely loves everything she has gotten and her parents want to thank everybody that has participated or is participating in this. This is really lightening up the days of this little girl! May you be blessed for all of this!
