Description:

This is a fairly simple swap, but hopefully a great way to learn more about birds in your own country and around the world!

What to do:

  • Each participant will send 1 postcard to 2 partners featuring a bird or birds native to their (the participant's) country.
  • The postcard can be art, photographic, or touristy - just as long as birds are the primary focus.
  • On the back of the postcard, tell your partners the name of the bird(s) and 3 to 5 facts about it.
  • Postcards should be sent "naked" (i.e. written, addressed and stamped on the back, not in an envelope).

Who can take part?

  • Newbies with well filled out profiles and at least 3 Type 2 swaps completed are welcome.
  • No recent unexplained bad ratings.
  • There is no limit to how many participants can sign up per country. This might mean you get partnered with someone in your our country, but I hope you will still enjoy the experience and learn something new.

I can angel if needed (please rate your partner 1 and let me know). I would also be happy to do a private swap with anyone who doesn't quite meet the swap criteria - just send me a message.

I hope you enjoy this swap. If it goes well, I plan to run it as a series.

I have bird post card that have facts on the species on the front of the post card. Is it acceptable for me to send without more info to add on the birds? These are vintage post cards, at least 40 years old.

@HelenG6 That's fine :) Those sound like lovely postcards. Perhaps add one extra fact to the back or some personal thoughts about the bird(s) on the card? I like the idea of us all learning something new, from the cards we send as well as the ones we receive.

@HelenG6 P.S. Just a thought - make sure your partners are clear that you aren't sending 3 to 5 facts on the back as they are already on the front on the card, so they don't mark you down.

Thank you, hobbitwife, that sounds like a good idea.

I don't usually like my pc's naked and stamped but my dad always loved birds and his birthday was June 12 so, in his memory, I've signed up!
