ATC and A PAINTING! (Fall 2008)

Come on guys and gals, YOU Can DoIt!!! You don't have to be a rembrandt, michaelangelo, or even a vangogh!!! try a picasso abstract style or even a jackson pollock! It's a small 5 x 7 inch canvas you can get @ ANY Arts & Crafts store and it mails easily in a 9 x 12 manila clasp envie or bubblewrap clasp envie! Not very expensive since its usa only!!! I encourage you to try it once! You will like it! cc

You can do a painting! any kind of paint..you can fingerpaint! splatter...waterbaloons filled up w paint! Look at some of the crazy stuff 'artist' have done and made big bucks!!! I have even seen spray painted art! i love the effect of lace spraypainted on a diff color background...or leaves...the possibilities are endless! I just did a swap like this where i received the lady's first painting and it is awesome! She looked at my profile and saw i like peacocks so she got a copy of a stylized peacock silhouette and used that idea in black with some texture medium added on a gorgeous teal background...it is simple and elegant and she even added some fine feather detail with a sharpie... i even like glitter, tissue paper or sand added to paint as effect! So yes, you can add collage items to your painting...but paint on it !!! make it a painting and a piece of art... someone will treasure it!

So, is the painting to be done on a stretched canvas or one of those cheapo canvas boards?

(hint: a stretched canvas is a little more expensive but better quality--the boards tend to warp)

In the swap we just did with a painting I gave and received a stretch canvas. I feel like you, the stretshed looks better and wasnt very expensive, only a coupla dollars with a hobby lobby 40% off coupon you can get @ their .com! And it was only a couple of dollars to mail, a very cheap way to get original art for your collection! Although I do use the boards too, I guess you can contact your partner and give your preferences....best of luck! I hope you get a good swapper! cc

great! I think we all agree that this will be fun and i think as we get into the painting we will have more fun than expected!!! And i pray the partners will be picked by swapbot so everyone gets the best possible partner for them!!! please agree w/me!

I love really abstract art--bright, rich colors, textures, and composition are the thing for me!

Okay, I'm going for it. I haven't really painted, but I'm willing to try and hope my partner won't hate what I do. This one sounds like fun. I'm sending my first four swaps out tomorrow, so I can dedicate myself completely to doing an awesome job on this swap.

I was thinking that I had never painted and couldn't do this, then I remembered that I have started to paint flowers on my dresser drawers and they don't look too bad. I hope I get someone that likes flowers as much as I do, and birds, any kind!!

magpie55, I just finished my painting yesterday! I'm happy with it, but I didn't start the ATC yet! That's what I'm doing right now so I can get them out in the mail tomorrow!

OK, Cyn. Thanks for letting me know. I don't know about you, but I found this swap very challenging! I really learned alot, though. I sure am glad we had only one partner!!!
