Description:

This swap is for fans of the Sci-Fi show "Doctor Who"

I am a HUGE fan of Doctor Who & thought it would be wonderful to share anything possible to other fans as well. This will be an international swap (so if you are worried about sending packages across seas, then maybe this one is not for you...)

This swap is open to anyone with a 4.5 or higher rating only. Also I ask that the people signing up for this swap has at least 10 actual swaps with a rating given. (Sorry newbies, might make exceptions, but must have full profile filled...I will check & ban anyone who doesn't fit this request)

All you have to do is send something pertaining to Doctor Who, I would like to keep costs low if possible, so maybe at least $5-$8 (don't know what that equals to elsewhere, but hopefully you'll be able to figure that out...)I know here in the states, it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to purchase Doctor Who items, so store bought, handmade, whatever you can find & afford is fine with me (extras of course are always welcome for hearts & much admiration....) :)

Maybe some ideas could be:handmade plushies, store bought items like:toys, books, magazines, trading (bubble gum) cards, stickers, really don't know what is available out there, so the possiblities are endless....

Let's get crafty with this one! :)

I would love to join but finding Dr Who items in the US is next to impossible.

momilani510 04/22/2008 #

I know they are impossible to find, that's why we can make some, I know there are alot of people her who like to make ATC's, jewelry, can knit & stuff like that, so maybe we can come up with handmade Doctor who stuff ( stuffies, plushies, whatevers...) it's all good!

People might like to check out a group I belong to on Live Journal. It is called Crafty Tardis and lots of people make Doctor Who crafts including t-shirts, totebags, plushies, knitting and various items or Rassilon. The link is http://community.livejournal.com/crafty_tardis/ I haven't made anything yet but have been thinking of making a totebag so this swap should get me going. If you knit there are patterns for making knitted Daleks (I don't unfortunately).

Etsy artists have created some GREAT works! I bought DH a Tshirt last year that he LOVES! :)

Try searching: Dr. Who not Seuss not Suess not Pepper or: Dalek

OR! Make something kool, too! :D

I am joining this for my 9 year old son.

We live in the UK and literally fall over Dr Who stuff (now saying that I bet I won't see anything in the shops) so can get magazines/comics, notebooks, stickers etc.

I am sure he would love stuffies, t-shirts etc but not sure if he would be so impressed with an ATC :-) though you never know.

My hubby got me into Dr. Who last year and we are both big fans. He is going to love this swap.

just some more ideas. If anyone has a button (badge) maker, they could make some Dr.Who buttons, keychains, etc...shrinky-dinks can make all kinds of jewelery, stuffs, just trying to give some ideas to those who cannot "buy" stuff here in the US. Someone listed etsy here, & that's fine if you're willing to spend, but not necessary...hope this all helps. I'm giving a good 4 weeks, or so, for those of us who will be making stuff ( which I plan to do...)so it should be plenty of time to get something made! Good Luck everyone & have a great day!

I love Dr.Who and my husband is even a bigger fan watching it since he was a kid.

I don't think I will be able to find any Dr.Who items but I'm pretty crafty and will have fun making some Dr.Who them goodies, YAY!

I was so excited when I saw this...I should have bought Dr Who stuff early this year in the UK, but I'm sure I can come up with something! I love DR Who!!

I have been a Who fan since I was a kid, and since Tennant has taken on the role, have become a HUGE fan of his. However, it does suck to live in the midwestern US, where Who merchandise is nearly non-existant. I'm sure I'm going to have fun, though, trying to come up with neat things!

well Zanlovesgerhard, sorry to see you drop out, but that's ok, I figured this one might be a little hard on us in the states....anywho, really looking forward to see what kind of ideas people come up with....

My father loves Dr Who. This isn't that hard if you want to spend a little money, search on line or make something. Search for Dr Who pics on line which can be turned into ATC's or scrap pages. Find Shrinky Dinks at your local craft store and trace the Tartus or Dalek pic then shrink it down for jewelry charms or scrap charms which could be sent as is or turned into some great craft items. Buy flat glass marbles, glue pics on to them using aquarium glue, then flat magnets to produce custom Dr Who magnets! Make a Dotee Dr Who, Tartus, or Dalek. Send a scraf (you could even make this) or other Dr Who related items for a Dr Who Trivia package. See if your partner can guess episodes or instances they show up in the shows. Let's get creative folks! I think that's the idea for this swap!

momilani510 05/13/2008 #

you got the idea just perfect, if you're lucky enough to have one of those button (badge) making machines, you could print out pictures & make buttons, use same print out type stuff to decopage cards, magnets, cigar boxes, etc, shrinky dinks....the possibilities are endless with those...printable iron-on sheets, or printable fabric, you could make t-shirts, tote bags, pillows, all kinds of stuff, (there's even printable magnet sheets, or sticker sheets too...) so if you really put your mind to it, you could come up with all kinds of interesting things!

I might have to keep an eye on this one. I have some job interviews coming up, but I also have some really awesome patterns for Dr Who makeables that I bet someone would LOVE. I'm still technically a newbie (sending my first swap items this week! eeeeee!) but I'm very interested. Oh, and thinkgeek has a bunch of really cool Dr Who stuff here in the US... just in case anyone needs a resource :)
