Let's make junk journals! Using this tutorial (or similar) make a basic smash book for your partner! Those of you unfamiliar with junk journals or the K&Company commercial SMASH book, check out these links for inspiration: SMASH book Starting a Junk Journal Junk Journals & Ideas on my Pinterest I am a cheapskate and I love DIY, so I thought it would be fun to make starter books for each other! Use the tutorial to make a book that is at least 5"X7" (the main pages can be uniform or mismatched in size, but around the same size as the cover) and uses at least 15 pages. Book Requirements: Back & front cover (decorated nicely, do more than just glue a piece of scrapbook paper over the cereal box, maybe use cut-outs to write your partner's name or use some embellishments) at least 10 "blank" pages made with patterned paper sturdy enough for your partner to write, paint, and paste onto (double sided scrapbook paper or magazine pasted onto cardstock, for example). You are welcome to embellish with quotes & sayings but leave most of each page for your partner to journal on. at least 5 "pages" made from old cards, pockets, envelopes, ephemera Bind your book with binder rings like in the tutorial (use 3 for books bigger than 5X7 inches) PROFILE BASED: Make sure that you read your partner's profile! This is a DIY Junk Journal swap, use what you've got, but make sure NOT to pick stuff on your partner's dislike list! You may get hearts for choosing things you think your partner will particularly like, of course. ;) This is a fairly simple swap. Rate a 5 if your book meets the basic requirements! This book is meant to get you started on your junk-journalling journey and is for you to add pages & make "your own" after you receive it! The Usual Stuff I have chosen to only allow swappers with high ratings as this swap is fairly involved. I will be checking everyone's profiles to make sure that there is no funny business (even a 5.0 isn't a foolproof guarantee). I will angel (which is NOT an invitation to flake!!) ;) I do want to allow newbies WITH WELL FILLED-OUT PROFILES, and I expect a PM before the sign up date to show good intentions. =) Me on Vacation I will be on vacation July 7-15 so I may be a bit delayed in getting partners assigned if there are a lot of people. Thank goodness somebody made a swap for this, cuz I didn't really want to host one. Just wasn't in the mood for coming up with the requirements and such, but anyhoo I'm all over this! I've made a lot of smash books for different reasons and was just itching to make one for a swap.

I'd really love to join, but you've made a 5.0 rating requirement and I had 1 three a couple of years ago. I don't understand why you'd let unrated newbie swappers join, but not someone with an almost perfect swap history. I'm so sad! Let me know if you reconsider.

I've lowered it so you can join in @kgeslab I know that not all 1s and 3s are the fault of the receiver.

I think newbies should be allowed because I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and that all are innocent until proven guilty. ;) We assume that all rated participants will not flake, but we also know that even the highest rated swappers can become flakes by whim or happenstance, and that even a 5.0 is not a guarantee, so I don't believe in discriminating against newbies who show that they are trying to follow directions. I hope that makes sense! I tend to be wordy, haha! =)

@occasiongb6557 - these should turn out pretty light (paper scraps & chipboard with a few embellishments?) so I wouldn't be too worried. If you want to host a domestic one that is fine with me. =)

I have this fascination with making Smashbooks... and buying them too.... but the problem is .... I hate to use them because I worry my ugly handwriting will mess them up. I just have to dive in and do something with one of my books. That is on my summer to do list.

Haha! @ soyprincesa2, I have a hankering for making smash books too!!! I've only bought two (and still haven't used them yet LOL). Plan on making a youtube video on the ones I have made. And you better hurry up, the summer's almost over. :)
