Description:

For 2012, I am hosting a mandala series, one a month for the year. Join in on all or one: it's up to you.

NOTE: From the January and February mandala experiences, I'm noticing that beginners (those who have never made a mandala) are underestimating the effort involved in the swap. So be warned, and be prepared: mandalas can be difficult, and are certainly time-consuming (and fun and rewarding) Please don't send a poor mandala in desperation. Contact me or your partner first.

In order to possibly bind the mandalas into a year-book, please make the format 7" X 6" sturdy paper. Make the mandala on the rightmost 6" X 6" area, leaving the leftmost inch as the area to bind it into a book. Please use sturdy, at least 65# paper (at least cardstock weight). You may draw, paint, collage, zentangle your mandala. For beginners, the swap 'homepage' link is to a wonderful YouTube video, 'How to Grow a Mandala'.

I'll check profiles and reserve the right to ban at my discretion.

I will angel but I hope it will not be necessary.

I'm a mandala newbie, but I've been wanting to do this for some time. Question: can the mandala be drawn on regular art or drawing paper and then (neatly) mounted on heavy cardstock, or should it all be one sheet of paper?

sagesparrow 03/ 3/2012 #

Yes, you are free to mount your drawing on heavier paper.

I love that you specify size and leaving an inch for binding. That makes it really appealing to join every one of these, because we can look forward to adding them to a collection without worry.

Me too, I have really enjoyed making them.
So excited to get started on this one now.

How about a Flickr group for the mandalas? We can post them there....it would be wonderful to see what everyone is doing, and get inspiration and ideas from each other.
