About Me

I'm a 60 year old retiree in Northern Illinois, USA. I am a very hands-on Grandma, taking care of my 5 grandbabies on a regular basis.

I'm a homebody / introvert. I like to stay home and do my own thing. Usually this includes reading, watching TV, listening to audio books, crafting something, drinking coffee, drinking tea, and drinking wine... not all at the same time.

I collect the freebie bookmarks of all sorts. I usually pick up a couple when I see them so I have one for my own collection and a couple to swap.

Favorite Crafts

I'm interested in crafting of all sorts. My oldest and dearest hobbies are sewing and crochet, but I dabble in all sorts of other things. I do have a fondness for zentangle, mail art, and coloring. I'm a quilter but have not had much time for full blown quilt projects since the grandkids are here so much.

Random Likes

I like all colors.
I like handmade things.
I like quotes.
I LOVE bookmarks.
I like fountain pens and inks.
I like strong dark coffee.

Random Dislikes

I'm not fond of jewelry.
I don't wear hair ornaments, i.e. headbands, clips, barrets, etc.
I dislike glitter! ... no, really!
I really dislike cigarette smoke.
I have no tolerance for bigotry or bullying.
Drama makes me shut down.
Swap Nazis need to get a life.

Comment: Thanks for another card about a book I do not know but must find! Lily could almost be my daughter who was reading chapter books before kindergarten (causing many difficult times and unfortunate attitudes toward learning---I hate what schools did to my kids who entered them with a thrill and drive to learn, explore, and find out everything! I so wish I'd home schooled but at that time it was not common and and caused many legal problems. Anyway, she could have been Lily except that she loved softball and competitive swimming. Thanks for another great postcard--you ARE definitely sending cards I love finding in my mailbox!

Comment: Dawn--this looks like a book I'd enjoy adding to my collection of children's literature. Where to you find postcards like this one? I have no luck except a few at Dover Publishing online. Google searches also never get me far. I also lover the C.S. Lewis quote. It is quite interesting in that when he wife died so young, he was left to raise her son as his own, having little to no knowledge of how to take on the task. But he did it and we are the luckier to have his Chronicles of Narnia written for the boy, if my understanding is correct. Thanks for a great postcard swap!
