Description:

I've been thinking about a swap like this for a very long time and I think that I have finally figured out the logistics to be able to make it happen!

For this swap all participants will start out with a little supply kit that contains the same items as everyone else.

I just bought the Tim Holtz kraft paper Halloween stack and this is what I'm going to start the supply kits out with. I will add other items too - punchies, stickers, ribbon, embellishments, gems, brads, eyelets, charms, etc - I won't know for sure until I put the kits together.

You will be making ONE rolo for each of THREE partners plus ONE more rolo for me (that's to "pay" me back for the supply kit I will send you). So - make FOUR total rolo cards from your supply kit.

Start with the supply kit that I furnish to you and then add whatever else you want; however, be sure that you use enough items from the supply kit (and in big enough pieces) that it is obvious they are there. You don't HAVE to add anything to the supply kit if you choose not to.

Please use the 2 1/4" by 4" or the 2 5/8" by 4" sized cards (the top edge can be straight or rounded). Decorate the back at least a little bit (it don't have to be as elaborate as the front) and be sure to include your name on the back.

The back can be right side up or upside down - if you choose, you can wait and PM your partner once partners are assigned to ask what kind of rolodex holder he/she has (so you know how to do the back).

Feel free to add embellishments that hang off the edge opposite of the nothces - but don't put these on any other sides as they might interfere with the operation of your partner's rolodex file depending on whether they are using a flat style or a rotary style.

Usual rules apply: * No sticker slapping (but stickers are definitely allowed) * Any medium(s) * Late sends and flakers will not be tolerated.

The fun of this swap will be starting with a supply kit and then seeing what your partners created using the same supplies! It would be FANTASTIC if everyone posted their completed rolo cards in the "PaperCutz" Flickr group CLICK HERE so we can all see ALL of the variety!

Dates:
Sign Up Deadline: 10/21
I will send out supply kits by: 10/24
Send by Deadline for completed rolos: 11/21

I know this is going to end up past Halloween for this year but I love Halloween themed things all year round and I know a lot of you do too! Also, depending on what you decide to use from the supply kit your rolos wouldn't necessarily have to be Halloween themed!

I plan to post a similiar swap in the "Twinchie Madness" group but will use something different to create the supply kits - keep watch for that swap too!

I have tried to think this through as clearly as I can but please ask any questions you have and I will try to clarify. Thanks!

I stopped at my "local scrapbooking store" the other night and they have two sides of an aisle CRAMMED with Tim Holtz stuff - I didn't even know there WAS that much Tim Holtz stuff! Let me know if you ever want me to get you any!!

cool idea!

I love how this idea came together and your choice of paper is excellent!!!

Sounds really interesting. I have other ideas for swaps that are kind of similar- I didn't know how to do it logistically. I have a large cache of library card catalog cards, and I thought it would be neat to supply everyone with one and then see what happens.

Very neat idea. It will be interesting to see just what everyone can come up with!

Wow, cool! I've been in a creative slump; this will get me out!

So, for those of us wanting to venture into Rolo making, would you say this would be a good starter, or not? Cause I've wanted to try my hand at this art, but a little nervous to jump in :P

LauraAust 10/12/2011 #

Yes - I think this would be a good beginning swap - not only can you try your hand at making a few rolos but you will also get a few back to "examine". :) If I remember - you will probably have to remind me - I will throw in some blank rolo cards that came with my rolo file for you to play with, use as templates, etc. :)

Awesome! Thanks Laura!

I have extended the "send by" date on this swap because I am just getting the kits in the mail tomorrow morning (sometimes my life gets a little out of control). Thanks! :)
