I'm a 28 year old customer service rep living in the most foreign of lands in the whole world: Iowa. What a quirky little state this is with strange people.
But, if I'm living here, I guess that makes me strange, too.
I have a lot of different hobbies, and I mostly think of myself as a modern explorer. My whims this week have gotten me hooked on the Doctor who series, signing up on this website, and writing poetry every day (though, that's part of my extremely long list of New Year's resolutions).
Things that seem to not be whims: 1. My love of the french language, and my love of speaking it, writing in it, and discussing the language, the culture, the history. Honestly, being a francophile has led people to believe I'm either insane, a communist, or extremely fascinating. I'd like to that it's somewhere in the middle (though, not so much on the communism).
My love of reading. I may take breaks every so often, but I don't feel write if I'm not plunged into a world that someone has created. It's lovely. Just yesterday, I read "Ready Player 1" by Stephen Cline, which was fantastic. I'm now attempting the Monogliad. Favorites of all time include: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Catcher in the Rye, The Gum Thief, The Weird Sisters, various myths and fairy tales, Canticle for Leibowitz, Ender's Game, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and The Song of Ice and Fire series. Those are only the ones that come to mind right away. (Ask about the year of the books.)
My love of writing. I love physical mail. I love writing stories. I love poetry. I love just practicing writing (even though my handwriting has improved, it's still not calligraphy style amazing yet). I love postcards. Sometimes, I write on my bathroom mirror when the urge hits me. Perhaps it's a gentle madness.
My hatred of "reality television". There's only one exception: Solitary. Best. Game. Show. Ever.
My need to connect to other human beings. No man is an island. So mote it be.
There are probably others, but this is getting a bit long. Thanks!
