I live in a small city in the Rocky Mountains. I have a fabulous husband, two wonderful daughters, and four annoying but adorable cats, Tuna, Gus, Lulu, and Steve. I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping, biking, and photography. I have two part time jobs, one in library and the other in administration. I am an easy-going person, who sees humour in most things. I have simple tastes, I'm not into shopping (except for books), clothes, make-up, or jewelry. I like to spend my time quietly; walking, reading, crafting, and spending time with family.
I enjoy paper crafts, rubber stamping, scrapbooking, sewing, art, and photography. I sometimes spend more time reading about crafts than actually doing them.
Books are my number one favorite thing, especially mysteries. British, Canadian, and Scandanavian mystery authors are my favorite. I read a lot, usually having several books on the go at the same time, both fiction and non-fiction. I belong to two local bookclubs. One is a general bookclub and the other is devoted exclusively to mysteries. Also once a year, I attend a book discussion weekend. My favorite mystery genres are cozies, police procedurals, detective series, and psychological thrillers. I don't like anything graphic or violent. I have a degree in literature and enjoy reading classics and poetry.
I mainly listen to classical and folk music. I like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, our hometown folk music group As the Crow Flies, Kate Rusby, Mary Chapin-Carpenter,and Nancy Griffiths, as well as most of the classical composers.
I don't watch much TV , but when I do my favorite programs are Corner Gas, Heartbeat, and The Royal. I also enjoy dramatizations of my favorite mysteries, like Midsomer Murders, Inspector Morse, Cadfael, Hercule Poirot, and Sherlock Holmes.
I collect books and items related to mystery novel characters, Nancy Drew (vintage, not recent), Sherlock Holmes, and Hercule Poirot especially. I also collect vintage cameras.
I like going to film festivals that feature foreign and independent movies. I don't go to the movies often but I do like to see the Harry Potter movies when they first come out. Movies I've seen recently include Into the Wild, Lars and the Real Girl, Shirley Valentine, and Mr. Bean Goes on Vacation.
My favorite colours are warm and earth colours, orange, yellow, brown, and dark green, especially. I don't really like pastel colours.
My favorite flavours are vanilla, peppermint and cinnamon. Those are my favourite scents also.
I like to make soup and bake bread.
I enjoy nature and the outdoors, and pictures of and items related to nature, such as trees, wildflowers, mountains, prairie landscapes, rocks, animals, clouds, snow, water.
I enjoy hiking, biking, and snowshoeing.
I like to photograph wild flowers, landscapes, nature, my pets, family and everyday life.
I would love to travel, but so far am mainly an armchair traveller. I would love to receive postcards from other places.
I like local history and visiting museums and places of local interest.
I like vintage photos, ads, postcards, cards, etc., on just about any topic but especially travel, books, nature, kitchen/home, food, holidays (Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, etc.)
I like puzzles and word games.
My favorite season is fall, then winter, spring, and summer.
I like snow (we get a lot in this area) and pictures of snow.
My favorite artist is Emily Carr.
I really like coffee, the darkest roast available.
I like red wine, BC wines especially.
I like Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Black Adder, Mr. Bean, The Far Side, Calvin and Hobbes, and Peanuts(Snoopy, Charlie Brown, etc).
I like animals, my favorites are cats(domestic and wild), cows, frogs, birds, crows, ravens, bats, squirrels, deer, and bears.
I like getting mail; anything paper like bookmarks, postcards, letters, cards, inchies, ATCs, photographs, and anything homemade.
