About Me

My name is Rikki and I am a 21 year old university student. I'm studying economics - but I secretly LOVE working with textiles, design etc... My Oma taught me how to knit and crochet when I was about 7. I made a few scarves and tea cozies, then dropped it for 10+ years. Then about 3 years ago I picked it up again, and have been obsessively at it ever since. I also recently learned to crochet again.. another new addiction! My favourite colours are black and purple (together), bright blues and greens. And pink of course! Right now, my newest obsession is orange. But really I can't think of a colour I don't like.

Favorite Music

I generally feel that all genres of music have something to offer, but I definately am a classic rocker. With some modern stuff thrown in too. I love Led Zeppelin, the Velvet Underground, Rush, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, the Who, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, NY Dolls, the Clash, Neil Young, Tragically Hip, Tom Petty etc... But of course, I am a child of the 90's and love my Pixies, Placebo, REM, Silverchair, Rage, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Soul Asylum, Crowded House and Nirvana of course. Also love Regina Spektor, Tegan & Sara, Belle & Sebastian, the Weakerthans... I'm not gonna pretend to be some kind of pretentious indie music connaiseur, but I do generally appreciate a lot of that kind of music.

Favorite Books

I love to read!! So so much. Favourite authors include Margaret Atwood, Hermann Hesse, William Tenn, Jules Verne, Kurt Vonnegut. My life reached a turning point when I was 11 - I read Jane Eyre for the first time. It changed my life, turned me into a hardcore reader. I devoured the works of Austin, the Brontes, Dickens etc when I was growing up. I love classic lit. I've recently been reading a lot of classic sci-fi (big 3), and I love it! I LOVE anything that makes comments on our society (even if it's how society was in the 40's).. I don't know if this is some kind of dark twisted obsession, or some kind of attestation to my cynicism

Favorite Television

I don't really watch a lot of TV. I hate reality TV with a passion! But there are a few shows which I like. Most of them got canceled. Arrested Development. Beetlejuice. Carnivale. Clone High. Listed. My So Called Life.

Favorite Movies

I have a weird and varying taste in movies.. I'm very skeptical about movies that come out nowadays, but I love classics. And weird cult stuff, especially cult horror flicks. Oooo and musicals. Seriously, I don't understand people who don't like musicals: it's a movie that's narrated by song. What's not to love???? Among my favourites are: Breakfast at Tiffany's. Dazed and Confused. Donnie Darko. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Garden State. Ghost World. Gone With the Wind. Hedwig and the Angry Inch. How to Steal a Million. RENT. Sleepaway Camp triolgy. Some Like it Hot.

Favorite Crafts

Knitting, crochet, macrame (I'm singlehandedly trying to bring it back!), making hemp jewelry, sewing (nothing too complicated), pretty much anything that involves string/yarn/cloth that I can make with my hands. I love vintage design, and draw a lot of inspiration from old patterns. This may sound weird, but I looooove vintage wallpaper, especially paisley designs. Also love geometric patterns (think 60's) in bright colours.

Shipping

I understand how expensive shipping can be. So please, send things with the cheapest shipping possible! I won't hold time or deadlines against anyone, and I'm happy to wait for a parcel (as long as I know that it's coming). I will rate kindly and fairly, not taking into account how long it takes to get to me. Also, if you want to send me things in recycled envelopes I will thank you for it.

Comment: Beautiful! I love it and the color, you did a great job! The bookmark is wonderful, also. I haven't done macrame in 25 years (just aged myself!), and it was with rope. Thanks so much.

Comment: Thank you for the awesome leg warmers! I was so excited when I opened the package and have been wearing these awesome leg warmers around the house! (It's 80 degrees out, yes, but they're so cool!) I bet that's *exactly* what Eowyn would wear if she landed in 1985.
