About Me

Professional Hedonist.

I am married and have a 5 year old daughter, a 12 year old stepdaughter, and a 23 year old daughter. We currently decided to increase the number of our family by 6, adding a flock of backyard chickens.

We live near the lake, my dining room table is my favorite spot, as I can peek at it from my seat. I have a arts/craft table but I tend to use my dining room table instead because of this view.

Foodie. Love to eat. Love to cook, and am pretty good at it. But baking is not the easiest for me to do...it always comes out weird-looking.

Favorite creative things: Blackout poetry. Photography. Writing. Mixed media collage. Postcards. Altered art.

Creative things I do sporadically: cross-stitch.

Collections: wine corks. wooden thread bobbins. dolls. postcards-vintage/unique. valentines-vintage. Ephemera, particularly vintage magazine/book pages.

Interested in: knitting. crochet.

Favorite holidays: Halloween. Christmas.

New to: washi tape. I only recently bought my first rolls. So far I have only used them in my blackout poetry. Stamping, have a few but have yet to put them to use.

I go to the gym 3 days a week. I love books. Music. Musicals.

I am perfectly content with my level of quirkiness.

Favorite Books

Books, books, books. I have more than a lot of folks. A "to read" stack that grows and grows.

I read every day, all throughout the day. You know, here and there. Before bed, waiting for my gym class to start, waiting for my kiddo at school pick-up.

My favorite genre? The written word. I'm a word nerd. I love all sorts; my library spans across many genres.

I tend to lean towards tales of salvation, redemption (second-chances, not born again), and apparently have a thing for time travel. Books about characters in self-discovery, as that is the phase of life I am in.

I find that I rarely read..fluff. I need substance. I want to be moved. I want to feel that slight ache when a good story has been told and the book has ended.

For light reading, I have a couple of guilty pleasures; Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Jude Devereaux, specifically Knight in Shining Armor, and The Summerhouse.)

Favorite Music

I have no favorites here either. I like many genres. My father was a music nerd and I get my love of music from him.

He was like moms who try tempt picky children with new foods, 'You don't have to LIKE everything, but you do have to try it.'

My dad listened to all my music as I was growing up, through all my phases. He liked some, some he didn't. I miss our shared love of music and there are many times I think oh, dad would have loved this.

Like my books, I need feeling, depth, something other than a catchy tune. Sure, I have a few that managed to nestle into my brain, those ear worms...but I do like to dance!

Dislikes

I have only one request from my partners; please nothing that is heavily scented. I have asthma and strong scents will set me off.

Favorite Colors

Colors; my favorites are probably the epitome of May (and Springtime); greens, pinks, soft blues. I used to say yellow was my least favorite but I bought a dress that changed my mind. ;)

Purple is becoming a favorite as well.

The Small Person

I have a 5 year old in residence who LOVES when we get mail. If you send anything unicorn, she'll love it forever. Purple is her favorite color.

My Style

I had my style exploration later in life, due to life being....life in the first 20-odd years.

I wear dresses almost every day. Swirly, twirly, girly being my favorite. I love vintage. I wear hats, sometimes gloves, my handbags are small and most often unique.

I like beads and bling and interesting embroidery.

Attention!

My apologies. I am not able to send or receive mail for a few more days.

We had a tornado in my town and have been without power (and in an emergency shelter) for a week!

New Fairfield, Connecticut is where I live. We have been in the news, the damage was so bad...it went right my driveway, in fact. Scariest thing ever! But we're okay, a complete miracle.

Thank you,

PrettyKittyRed
