I'm taking a break from Swap-bot for awhile after I had a total knee replacement 8/21. Doing well but need a rest.I'm loving swap-bot.I have settled into ATCs as my main form of artistic expression. I enjoy making that little piece of art. I have received so many beautiful ones from all over the world. How cool is that!! I have also met so many kind, interesting, generous, talented people on swap-bot. Now I'm getting into page by page art journals & Zentangles.
Things I like to do include counted cross stitch, reading, cooking & baking. I especially like to make soups. I will often add cross stitch to my ATCs.
I worked as a teachers' aide with special needs elementary students for 16 years & as a Practical Nurse many years ago.
I'm retired & currently volunteer a lot. I serve on the immigration task force for an interfaith social justice organization. I also volunteer at my public library, greeting people, and helping with children's programs. I am a CASA (court appointed special advocate) for a child who is the court system because he has been abused and neglected. I'm an empty nester with my husband for company.
I love to travel & have been to Europe 10 times(Denmark, England, Ireland (2x), Italy, Greece, France & Romania(2x),Scotland, Wales, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.) I really enjoy traveling, new sights, interesting food & people. In Oct. 2011 we had an incredible trip to Japan & China.1/12, I can now add the beautiful beaches of St. John, VI to my travel list. Wonderful beaches, snorkeling (YES), & fresh fish, so cool. Recently (July 2012) back from Scotland &Wales, & abit of England where I visited with a sweet swapper I met here. 10/12 Just back from the beautiful National Parks Yosemite & Grand Canyon. April 2013 just returned from Romania and Hungary, had a wonderful time.I am very fortunate to be able to travel. Fall 2013 we traveled to some beautiful areas of Canada, old Quebec City, which was great. Reminded me of France. Also went to Nova Scotia, especially Cape Breton area and Halifax. Feb. 2014 traveled to Peru to see Machu Picchu and Ecuador to the Galopgos Islands. Wow, both were incredible. May 2016 Biked in the Netherlands for 3 days. What wonderful Bike paths thru out the country. Also visited Germany and Switzerland on this trip. Recently (May 2018)traveled to So Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe and went on a safari and explored Capetown, beautiful and exciting trip. 1/2019 visited beautiful Puerto Rico for the first time. My husband retired in Jan. 2011 after working in the local public library for almost 33 years, 15 of those years as library director. Now we can do more traveling. My daughter is also a librarian & she's the one who turned me on to swap-bot.
I like to bike in the warmer weather & cross country ski in the winter.
I usually have my swaps ready to be sent out the day I get my partner's name & address. Please know that I would never be a flaker, so if you don't get something I should have sent, please let me know before giving me a bad rating. Also I rate ASAP, usually the day I receive the swap. I would expect prompt rating from others.
Cross stitch is my favorite craft. I collect buttons & I love Pez dispensers. I also love the Wizard of OZ, movie & books.
I love to watch Dancing with the Stars, Gray's Anatomy, Nashville, & Modern Family. Of course Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife on PBC are wonderful shows too.
I like most types of music except opera & rap. Bruce Springsteen & Leonard Cohen are 2 of my favorite singers. Also Emmy Lou Harris, Nancy Griffith & Kate Wolf (dead singer song writer). I like Harpeth Rising as a current group. Absolutely love the soundtrack from Hamilton. Saw Hamilton in Chicago and recently (1/2019) in Puerto Rico with Lin Manuel Miranda starring. Incredible.
I read a lot, mainly fiction. The Secret Lives of Bees & To Kill a Mockingbird are 2 of my favorites. So much great stuff to read never enough time! (Even as a retired person) 12/12 I got an Ipad for. Christmas which I'm loving & having fun with. I figured it would be great to take on my travels, easier than 4-5 books to lug. Basically I read lots, no way to record it all.
Dislikes for me would be religious items (including angels) & too cutesy things. I don't do pink! Kid things aren't to my liking either. I strongly dislike clowns. I do love just about all colors except pink. I'm pretty easy to please & love getting mail especially from all over the world.
We share our home with 2 cats. Dickens (Little Charles Dickens) & Bob Cat (Robert the Bruce a Scottish King)

While checking on another swapper's ratings I noticed you had a birthday tomorrow.
