Hi! I'm Sandy, from Minnesota. We have a saying here - "Minnesota Nice". I do my best to live up to that, but it doesn't mean I'm a pushover. ;o)

I love postcards! I don't have a formal collection - I just like to look at them, and have my favorites up on my kitchen wall, where I can see them all the time. ;oP

For me, a big part of the fun of swapping is trying to pick just the right postcard for someone else, and making that momentary connection by what I write on it.

I enjoy a variety of postcard themes, but my absolute favorites are ALL ANIMALS (raccoons are extra special), state/country maps (don't really care for street/subway, etc.) funny & wildlife touristy, single view scenery from your state or country, places of interest, b&w/sepia tone photography, and art, especially paintings from the earlier periods. I love good quality Zazzle type pc's, as well as the store bought. Unless the swap calls for blank in an envelope, please send mine naked & stamped. :o)

I live with Buffy, my 17 year old cat. Her full name is "Buffy the Vampire Moth Slayer". She was named after the Buffy. ;o)

I was born and raised in Minneapolis, but my heart has always been in the country. I was lucky enough to have grandparents and other relatives with farms, where I spent a lot of my growing up time.

Mountains and the ocean are great, but the woods are my favorite. So peaceful, yet so much going on if you pay attention.

After 30 years of living in the country, I moved to an old folks home in the city on 11/1/14. That's what I call the 'senior's only' apartment building I now live in. ;oP It's on the very edge of the city (pop. 68,200), and there's plenty of wildlife, including pheasant and coyotes. Deer come every night, and I wave at them. I miss the old house, but this was a necessary move. I love it here! Buffy loves looking through the sliding glass doors in the living room, and I thoroughly enjoy that she now has her own bathroom. ;o)

I drive the back roads whenever possible - it's so much better than the interstate!

I love pick-up trucks, and haven't owned anything else since 1988. I really miss hauling dogs around with me. Buffy doesn't like to go for rides. :o)

Forget world peace and good health! If a magic genie said I could have a wish, and only one, mine would be to be able to truly communicate with every other being on earth - like Dr. Doolittle.

I like to watch ants and bees go about their business. Such industrious little creatures! Especially interesting to me is watching ants work out the logistics of bringing a big ol' piece of food back to the nest. Their ability to overcome obstacles is amazing!

I think for myself.

I don't care for fishing (the number one pastime of Minnesotans) and I'm not comfortable in a boat. Do I prefer staying on shore? Ya - you betcha! ;o)

I'm a night-owl, and am often just going to bed when the birds start waking up.

I talk to everything that walks, crawls, flies, etc. You get the picture. I'm always trying to communicate on some level with all the critters around me.

I'm not easily offended, and don't have delicate sensibilities.

Severe weather excites me as much as it scares me!

History is one of the big loves of my life - it gives us so much insight into who we are today. Too bad we don't learn from it more.

I was in the Army, way back when.

I believe laughter is truly the best medicine! :oD

The two songs I relate to the most are "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, and "I Gotta Be Me" by Sammy Davis Jr.

Nothing gets my temper up like injustice and abuse - of any kind. Oh yeah, and know-it-alls!

I'm considered to be a bit eccentric by some people. Okay, probably a lot of people - but I really don't care. Life is too short, and I'm going to enjoy it in the ways that please me most!
